This means that all six of their IB courses (as well as Theory of Knowledge) are taught over two years. UCC establishes interim IB grades in June of IB1 (the end of the junior year) and again in February and April of IB2. The first set of these grades reflects a full year of IB-based study, along with rigorous cumulative evaluation. The subjects in the left-hand column above are taken as part of the IB Diploma program of this student. Courses designated HL are taught at the Higher Level (240 hours of instruction over two years); those marked SL are Standard Level (150 hours in the same period). Evaluation is cumulative over the two years. GPA is weighted to reflect the depth and rigour of the IB curriculum. GPA and interim grades should be interpreted only after reference to the Table of Evaluation Standards on the back of this transcript. Diploma Points are awarded (to a maximum of three) for performance in the Theory of Knowledge course and on the Extended Essay. The number of Diploma Points shown on this transcript indicates the degree to which the student has exceeded the minimum requirements for these two components of the IB Diploma program. Point Total represents a total out of 45 (the maximum a student can achieve). A plus sign is an internal code used to indicate that the student is currently performing at a level very close to the threshold for the next higher grade, and may improve by one point in that subject by the end of the next reporting period. In addition to the IB Diploma program, UCC students concurrently complete the requirements for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). OSSD courses listed above are senior-level credits in the Ontario provincial curriculum that are deemed equivalent to the six IB subjects. Only those courses designated as 4U/M are eligible for inclusion in an applicant’s university admission average. Canadian universities use the six highest 4U/M grades (including prerequisites) for this calculation. As with IB subjects, evaluation in these courses is cumulative over the last two years of secondary school. For this reason, each set of interim grades incorporates those from the previous term.
