NEBRASKA COACHES ASSOCIATION COACHING CAREER MILESTONE PROGRAM
MILESTONE CRITERIA CONTINUED
CRITERIA AND ADMINISTRATION OF NCA MILESTONE PROGRAM:
Active, inactive, and retired coaches that are members of the NCA and meet the milestone criteria are eligible. An active coach milestone winner must have coached in Nebraska the past five years. An inactive or retired coach must have coached in Nebraska the last five active years.
TEAM SPORTS:
Coaches at any level of competition (junior high through varsity) are eligible for this award but may count victories
(NSAA sponsored) for only one team per year, the team that played the highest level of competition. For example, if you were both a junior varsity coach and a junior high coach, you may count only the junior varsity victories for that year. If you were a junior varsity coach and later became a head coach, you may add the junior varsity victories and the head coaching victories together. A varsity assistant (ex: defensive/offensive coordinator) that does not directly coach a junior varsity team may count one-half of the varsity team's victories.
INDIVIDUAL SPORTS:
Coaches at any level of competition (junior high through varsity) are all eligible for this award but may count points
(NSAA sponsored) for only one team per year, the team that competed at the highest level of competition. For example, if you were both a junior varsity coach and a junior high coach, you count only the points accumulated in the junior varsity competition. If you were a junior varsity coach and later became a head coach, you may add the junior varsity points and the head coaching points together. An assistant coach in an individual sport such as track (event coach) or wrestling that does not have a separate junior varsity schedule, may count one-half of the varsity team's points plus 10 points each year for years of coaching. Regardless of the level you coach, you always earn 10 points each year for years of coaching.
Boys' and girls' cross country, boys' and girls' golf, boys' and girls' gymnastics, boys' and girls' swimming, boys' and girls' tennis, boys' and girls' track, and boys' and girls' soccer points are counted separately unless a coach completely switched genders in any sport during his/her career. Then, a coach may keep the points for the previous sport and add the new gender sport.
The milestone criteria and application form will be inserted in the November and May issues of the NEBRASKA
COACH. It will be each coach's responsibility to mail the application form to Jerry Stine, NCA Career Milestone
Secretary, 1004 Lake Vista Dr., Papillion, NE 68046, as soon as he/she has achieved a victory/milestone.
The deadline date to submit the application form in order to be eligible for the award is June 1. A coach will not be eligible for this award unless he/she fills out an application form and returns it. On the application form the coach must include each year coached, the school the applicant coached in, the level of competition (JH, JV, VAR, etc.), yearly wins in team sports, and a yearly log of meets or invitationals in which points were scored for individual sports. Presentation of Level
I, Level II, and Level III certificates will be made at the respective sports meeting at the NCA Summer Multi-Sports
Clinic. Presentation of the Level IV plaques will be made at the NCA Multi-Sports Banquet. Each year the NEBRASKA
COACH will publish a list of coaches in each sport that receive certificates/plaques.
A coach may receive only one plaque. The plaque will be designed so that at least two additional plates could be added if the coach qualifies in more than one sport.
The Career Milestone Committee shall consist of six members. They will include the NCA President, NCA President-
Elect, NCA Vice-President, NCA Immediate Past-President, and two other past presidents. The NCA President will appoint the two past presidents to the committee and one committee member to serve as the chairperson. The Career
Milestone Committee will meet in June to review the applications.

The most wins in a team sport a coach can record is 26. If the team plays more than 26 games, the coach will use the following formula to determine their wins for that season. (Number of wins -:- by the total games played = % x 26 =?)
EXAMPLE: 32 - 4 record, 32 -:- 36 = 88.8% x 26 = 23.11 (23 wins).
EXAMPLE: 21 - 7 record, 21 -:- 28 = 75.0% x 26 = 19.5 (20 wins). A Fraction of .5 or higher is rounded up and a fraction of .49 or lower is dropped.
