Richard Jones & Associate 40 Portway, Wythenshawe, MANCHESTER. Tel (0161) 437 2382 M22 1UB (Home 903 9634) richard.jones9@which.net July 2011 - DF1 position available due to original candidate being unable to take the position. Trainer – Richard Jones THE PRACTICE The practice is located in South Manchester on the edge of Wythenshawe, which is near the airport, 200 yards from Junction 4 of the M56, a 15 minute drive from the University. We have three spacious surgeries in a modern detached building. A large extension providing the third surgery and improved patient and staff facilities was completed in 2006. This will be the twelfth time the practice has had a VDP/DF1. Currently there are five full time staff, a receptionist and four nurses. The most important aspect of your training year is gaining experience. We can offer this in abundance. This in not an 'exam, scale and polish' practice!, there being a plentiful supply of patients requiring a wide range of treatments. As well as having your own 'patient list' you will also see the majority of new patients to the practice. This therefore represents an ideal opportunity for the individual who plans to remain in general practice, to use this first year to attain the standards and skills required to become a successful associate The practice provides you with an 'in house' practice manual, full of useful and relevant information. Previous VDPs/DF1s have found this invaluable, especially during the first few weeks. I promote a friendly, easy going but professional atmosphere at the practice and encourage input and suggestions from staff, especially at the monthly practice meetings. The practice achieved the ‘Investor in people’ standard in 2004 in recognition of our business organisation and commitment to staff training. THE TRAINER I qualified at Bristol University in 1983, working in general practice in the Manchester area ever since, including, as an associate, running a single handed branch surgery for several years before buying my current practice in 1993. After 28 years, I still thoroughly enjoy the challenges of working in general practice and keeping up to date with the constant changes in dentistry. My other interests include photography, music and motor-sport. THE AREA Wythenshawe is situated 6 miles south of Manchester City Centre with all that has to offer on the social and cultural front. It is also easily accessible from the area of the university and ten minutes drive from Withington and Didsbury. Less than 5 miles away, some of the most desirable residential areas in Cheshire are to be found. The Peak District is thirty minutes away, North Wales an hour and the Lake District an hour and a half. INTERVIEW PROCEDURE If you are interested in the position, you should contact me by e-mail as soon as possible. Please give a brief introduction of no more than 250 words as to why you would like to be considered for the position. Please also attach a copy of your CV.
