Deborah Caldwell 1982 May 19 School News Heritage High & Reach Graduation Graduation was held on Friday May 31, 2013 for the graduation of Reach Partnership School #341. Reach is a 6th thru 12th grade school. Principal Michael Frederick presented the graduates as they start their post secondary education to the world. This was the second graduating class at Reach. Graduation was held on Saturday June 1, 2013 for Heritage High School’s 8th graduation. Principal Stephanie Farmer and her staff were proud sending off their graduates out into the world. Alumni President Richard McCoy administered the alumni oath to the graduating class. This year’s recipient of the Lake Clifton Alumni Associations scholarship award is Angel Tabs, Heritage High 2013 class president. The LCAA congratulates all graduates as they start their college and work experiences. Alumni Fundraiser Alumni Fundraiser Day Trip To Atlantic City The Lake Clifton Alumni Association thanks all alumni that patronized our Atlantic City New Jersey yesterday Saturday June 22, 2013. Patrons enjoyed a day of shopping, sightseeing and other activities in Atlantic City and the weather was great. The LCAA is always looking for ideas for fundraisers for the association. We welcome your input on any suggestions that you may have so that we can raise funds to assist the students and staff of today’s Lake Campus Schools and the physical campus improvements. 2 Reunions Class of 1980 Reunion Committee Formation The class of 1980 has begun preliminary planning for an upcoming reunion and is forming a reunion committee. Class of 1982 Reunion Cook Out The class of 1982 will be holding a reunion cook out on Sunday July 21, 2013 from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Cox Point Park which is located at 848 Riverside Drive Essex Maryland 21221. A meet and greet will occur on Friday September 13, 2013 followed by the reunion the next evening. Both events will be held at the Crowne Plaza North Hotel which is located in Timonium Maryland. The reunion time is from 8:00 pm – 12 midnight. Tickets are just $55.00 each. Please do not wait until the last minutes to purchase tickets because they are limited. Class of 1998 15th Reunion – Save The Date The class of 1998 is planning activities for their 15th year reunion. A committee is being formed to plan this reunion. Lake Clifton Class Of 1974 40th Year Reunion To prepare for an early start, planning is beginning for the classes’ 40th year reunion in 2014. This e-mail is being sent out so that meetings can begin on next year’s reunion as well as fundraisers to defray the costs. The committee is looking for all former members as well as anyone that may be interested in assisting with the next reunion. Plans are currently to host the event in June 3 2014. They are: 1. Active membership - $25.00 yearly renewable annual dues. Active members are entitled to voting privileges in any organizational matter and are eligible to run for any elected office. 2. Student membership - $10.00 yearly renewable annual dues. This is for students seeking an undergraduate degree and Lake Clifton Campus School graduates under the age of 22 years of age. Eden Street will be holding a summer camp for youth- ages 6 thru 11 starting July 2, 2012. The camp is open daily from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm. Breakfast and lunch are included daily. Beat the Streets – Baltimore/Morgan State University Center for Excellence in Science and Math Education - Summer Day Camp Program 2013 Thank you for considering Beat the Streets – Baltimore/Morgan State University Center for Excellence for Mathematics and Science Education (CEMSE) for your day camp needs this summer. It is our desire to provide you with a high quality program for your developing youth. Our camp is for children ages 10-18, and runs for twelve (12) days from June 23rd through July 3rd, 2013. The Beat the Streets-Baltimore STEM Wrestling camp is a rigorous hybrid summer camp program that will combine amateur wrestling with Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) at Morgan State University. The residential program will focus on the holistic development of youth while providing a mentally and physically enriching summer program for 60 students from Baltimore City Public schools. The participants will be exposed to the atmosphere of a collegiate campus, upper level wrestling instruction and higher learning through our partnership with the Morgan State University’s Center of Excellence in Mathematics and Science Education (CEMSE). Student-athletes will have segmented wrestling instruction from highly skilled wrestling coaches/instructors. The wrestling portion will feature focused technical instruction, high pace drilling, proper nutrition guidance, strength and conditioning coaching, mental preparation and character development classes. The coaches include various Olympians, NCAA and State place-winners; headlined by 2012 Olympic gold medalist Jordan Burroughs. Students will develop their content knowledge in STEM through tutoring, mentoring and various STEM-related research activities. These activities will be followed-up and linked to the 2014 Morgan State University Annual Mathematics-Science-Engineering Fair and participation in the Beat the Streets Wrestling program. Through our partnership with Morgan State University, we are planning a very exciting and enriching summer for your youth. Our summer program will include activities such amateur wrestling, scientific research, math development, nutrition education, organized recreation and other exciting activities.
