Park University Honors Academy HN304 Updates Fall 2015 Date of presentations: December 4 Time: 3:30 – 5:30 PM Location: McCoy Meetin’ House Date narrative is due: November 25 All students arrive by 2:45 and remain for all peer presentations This is a mandatory meeting Students should be present for all peer presentations Mentors should accompany students Snacks will be provided for mentors and students at updates All students will meet with the Scholarship Faculty Fellow following the presentations for a discussion and evaluation of the presentations Each semester HN304 students and their mentors meet with members of the Honors and Scholarship Committee, which is chaired by the Director of the Honors Academy. The purpose of the meeting is to allow students to discuss the status of their research projects with committee members and the general public. The committee members may use the occasion to supply feedback and direction, suggesting changes and/or additions to the project. Guests may be invited, and various administrators and faculty may stop by to learn more about the projects. Students will present a representation of the project (power point, poster, printed artifact) as part of a 10-12 minute oral narrative summary that describes the project and progress made during enrollment in HN304. Students should include a properly formatted list, according to their discipline or program of study, of all sources used during research. Progress toward project completion should be evident. Students should be prepared to present the project without computer visuals, in case of power failure. Students will email a Word document that includes the elements below to Dr. Benjamin Newton, Honors Academy Faculty Fellow Coordinator, at Benjamin.newton@park.edu, on or before: noon on November 25. student name, research mentor name, academic major, and academic minor the project research question/topic thesis/hypothesis observations/research outcome/objectives achieved sources utilized for the project a copy or photographs of all visuals utilized a copy of IRB approval as applicable Note: if you do not complete the oral presentation in fall, 2015, you will present as part of a panel at the spring, 2015 11th Annual Student Research and Creative Arts Symposium, and you must register at www.park.edu/symposium early in the spring semester.
