Ancient Rome Travel Brochure
Are you ready to convince your family to take you on a vacation to ROME?
Well, you must be convincing! You need to make a travel brochure for
Ancient Rome. Be sure to include the following:
Location/Map
Climate
Tourist Attractions/Entertainment
Famous People
Government
Language, Culture and Beliefs
Life as a Ancient Roman Kid
You must make a tri-fold brochure! This is similar to the one you did for
computer. You must have lots of color and information. It must be easy
to read and factual! All of the information is in your notes, books,
handouts, etc. You must put the information in your own words. If you
CHOOSE to do additional research and include it, you MUST provide a
bibliography for the information. Also be sure you use your rubric to
double check your brochure for the necessary requirements!

Grading Rubric
Your name, date, class and number (10 points)
________
Your first and last name, due date, class section and class number must appear on the front
bottom corner of your travel brochure.
Tri-fold (10 points)
________
Your brochure must be folded as shown in class. All items must fit on the tri-fold as a brochure
or pamphlet would. You may complete your entire brochure on the computer and print one single
paper as you learned in computer class with Ms. McGee. You may also print out each section and
picture and glue it to a piece of paper. Extra credit will be given to all brochures that are
completed as you did in computer class. I will be happy to help you if you ask early for help!
Color (10 points)
________
Your brochure must be printed on white paper. However, you do need to add color through the
headings, paragraphs and pictures.
Pictures (10 points)
________
You need to have at least 4 pictures and 1 map. These pictures need to be in color. The
pictures should be placed close to the section they illustrate and under the proper heading.
The pictures need to be from the internet or computer software. You must provide the website
or software information for each picture.
Typed (10 points)

The brochure needs to be typed. Each paragraph needs to be indented. You may use a font size
between 10 and 12. You may choose a font you like, but be sure it is easy to read. Be creative
and play with the fonts. Don’t be afraid to underlined and bold your headings.
Spelling/Grammar (10 points)

All writing needs to be spelled and punctuated correctly. It needs to be written with proper
grammar. You will only receive full credit if your brochure is free of spelling, punctuation and
grammar errors. You will lose 1 point per error. Be sure to proofread your brochure! Ask an
adult to check over it too!
Neatness (10 points)
________
The brochure needs to be nicely printed. If you computer/printer is not capable of this, please
send it to Mrs. Rushton at amanda.rushton@icregina.com. You may need to send it to me many
times to be sure it get it right! If you need me to print, you must send it to me Wednesday,
March 21 or before. To eliminate some stress, it would be a good idea not to wait to print until
the night before the due date. Your brochure also needs to be flat, smudge free and wrinklefree. The corners should not be folded.
Organization
(10 points)
________
Each section should have a heading introducing each section. It should be centered and
underlined. Under each section, you should have at least 1 solid paragraph with 4 to 5
sentences.
Location/Map (10 points)
________
You will need to include a color map of Rome. It only needs to be a political map with the
cities and bodies of water labeled. It needs to be a map of ANCIENT ROME, not a current
map. Use the information from class to help you find this online. You will also need a brief
paragraph of where Rome is located. Be sure to include the continent, country and surrounding
bodies of water.
Tourist Attractions/Entertainment (10 points)
________
For this section, you can include things the ANCIENT ROME would see as a tourist attraction.
The following are ideas: Colosseum, battle sites, public baths, etc.
Government (10 points)
________
Give a solid and descriptive paragraph of what the government of ANCIENT ROME was like.
Be sure to include both the Plebeians and Patricians.
Famous People/People (10 points)
________
For this section, you need to include at least 3 people we learned about during our ANCIENT
ROME unit. You need to have at least 2 proper names and the other one may be type of person
like the Roman soldier.
Language, Culture and Beliefs (10 points)
________
You need to give a paragraph explaining information you learned from the ANCIENT ROME
language. You also need to give some facts about their culture and beliefs. These could include
their religion. You may also include Roman Numerals.
Life as a Ancient Roman Kid (10 points)
________
You need to give a paragraph explaining the life of a kid in Ancient Rome.
You need to include at least 5 items.
Rubric Handed-In (10 points)
________
You need to turn in this rubric with your completed project for 5 points. If you lose it and need
to ask for another, you may be deducted points. Be sure to put it in a safe place and refer to it
OFTEN!
