Writer’s/Illustrator’s Workshop
Picture Book Project
For this required project you will create a children’s picture book
based on research you have done of other picture books. This is a project
grade, so make sure to do your best work and to check the rubric often.
After the books are completed we will be sharing them with other students.
First, we will do “research” and analyze other picture books. You will
take notes on other story structures, elements, content, and illustrations. As
you are reading other books, think about what you would like to do for your
own picture book.
We will then begin to write our own stories. You may work together
with another student. One student can be the author and the other student
can be the illustrator. If working with another student, you still need to plan
out and work on the book together.
The rubric is broken down into 6 basic parts; cover, pages, grammar
and spelling, story, pictures/illustrations, and being on time.
