FINAL Localities Consultation Report Published Following a three month consultation, it has been confirmed that Fife’s joint health and social care services will be planned across seven localities. During the 12 week Localities Consultation, views were sought from the public, GPs, third and independent care partners as well as across all NHS Fife and Fife Council staff groups. The results indicated support for seven local areas as being the best way to plan the delivery of local, flexible and easily accessible health and social care services. This has now been approved by Members of the Joint Shadow Board as the way forward for Fife. The seven locality areas are the same as the boundaries of the existing Fife local community planning groups and are as follows: North East Fife (takes in Auchtermuchty, Cupar, Taybridgehead, St Andrews Crail and Anstruther) Glenrothes (takes in Thornton, Kinglassie and Leslie) Kirkcaldy (takes in Burntisland and Kinghorn) Levenmouth (takes in West Wemyss, Buckhaven, Methil, Methilhill, Kennoway and Leven) more../ ROTHESAY HOUSE GLENROTHES KY7 5PQ TELEPHONE 01592 583673 City of Dunfermline South West Fife (takes in Inverkeithing, Dalgety Bay, Rosyth, Kincardine, Oakley and Saline) Cowdenbeath (takes in Lochgelly, Kelty and Cardenden). Sandy Riddell, Director Health and Social Care, believes that this decision will complement existing service arrangements whilst allowing for a once in a generation transformation of services: “Our aim is to transform services so that the person is at the centre of care at all times. The Localities Consultation was an important stage of events where we were asked people to think differently about health and social care and tell us what matters to them. From the 400 Consultation respondents and 500 who participated in our consultation face to face events, we’ve gleaned invaluable feedback. “Having seven localities does not mean more bureaucracy or management – it is the opposite. Seven areas fit with existing Community Planning areas, we will deliver and evolve services within the staffing and budget available and keep restructuring to a minimum. With change of this scale and complexity, not everything can be tackled at once. We fully recognise that the needs of people vary across Fife, for example the North East differs to that of the Central Fife. More work will be done to develop meaningful and effective services at a local level. The involvement of all those who work with us, for us and who receive services will remain involved at the heart of what will be an on-going conversation as we integrate services in Fife.” A copy of the Health and Social Care ‘Your Views Matter’ Localities Consultation report is now available on Fife Direct.
