Mar-2007 Appendix A – Grading Rubric for Student Outcomes Assessment This student learning outcome from PHO-17 – Introduction to Color Photography, represents the overall expectation of students who successfully complete the class. Photo 17 was selected because it has recently been updated with content that reflects the impact of digital technology in photography. This SLO was selected because it requires research, judgment and observation, a photography exercise, the ability to digitally edit photographs and construct a computer-based presentation, and learning-based interaction with classmates. PHO 17 - Student Learning Outcome Select and research a contemporary professional color photographer whose work you would like to emulate. Create a PowerPoint presentation that includes as much of the following information as you can determine: reason(s) for choosing photography as a career; challenges he/she has faced as a photographer; preferred subjects and photographic style, preferred photographic equipment; preferred approach to printing; impact on current culture; and a variety of samples of his/her work. Also include two or more photographs that you created that emulate your chosen photographer’s style. You will show your presentation to the class and lead a class discussion about it. Sample Size – 16 student presentations The following rubric is used to determine the extent to which students meet the SLO.
