Appendix A – Grading Rubric for Student Outcomes Assessment
This student learning outcome from PHO-17 – Introduction to Color Photography, represents the overall expectation of students who successfully complete the class. Photo 17 was selected
because it has recently been updated with content that reflects the impact of digital technology in photography. This SLO was selected because it requires research, judgment and
observation, a photography exercise, the ability to digitally edit photographs and construct a computer-based presentation, and learning-based interaction with classmates.
PHO 17 - Student Learning Outcome
Select and research a contemporary professional color photographer whose work you would like to emulate. Create a PowerPoint presentation that includes as much of the following
information as you can determine: reason(s) for choosing photography as a career; challenges he/she has faced as a photographer; preferred subjects and photographic style, preferred
photographic equipment; preferred approach to printing; impact on current culture; and a variety of samples of his/her work. Also include two or more photographs that you created that
emulate your chosen photographer’s style. You will show your presentation to the class and lead a class discussion about it.
