Qualification Details Qualification Credits New Zealand Certificate in 40-70 Infrastructure Works Plant and Equipment Operation (Level 3) with optional endorsements in Excavator, Grader, Reclaimer Stabiliser, and Slinging and Lifting Detail Strategic purpose statement: The purpose of this qualification is to provide the infrastructure works industry with people who are able to safely and effectively operate plant and equipment in a range of contexts. The level of technical skills and responsibility of plant operators is critical in ensuring the quality of our infrastructure, and the safety of operators, the public and structures. This qualification is for those wanting to solely focus on operating plant and equipment; and/or apply their skills in the civil, surfacing and underground utilities sectors. Graduates of this qualification will be able to: Expiring qualifications: National Certificate in Civil Plant Operation (Level 3) [Ref: 1325] National Certificate in Infrastructure Works (Bulk Earthmoving) (Level 3) [Ref: 1094] National Certificate in Infrastructure Works (Level 2 or 3) [Ref:1326] National Certificate in Infrastructure Works (Forestry Earthworks) (Level 3) [Ref:1083] National Certificate in Pavement Surfacing (Plant Operation) (Level 3) [Ref:1428] communicate and work safely on an infrastructure works site inspect, maintain and, safely and effectively operate plant and equipment on an infrastructure works site The following optional endorsements enable candidates to gain further skills in specialist plant and equipment: Excavator Grader Reclaimer stabiliser Slinging and lifting using mobile plant Special conditions related to this qualification: Although this qualification is achievable as a stand-alone qualification for those wanting to solely focus on operating plant and equipment; it is recommended that candidates achieve the New Zealand Certificate in Infrastructure Works (Level 3), or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience, prior to this qualification, to gain a good understanding of operating in an infrastructure works environment. A minimum of TC Level 1 and appropriate licences and endorsements to operate plant must be attained - D, F, W, T, R Transition arrangements: 1 People currently working towards any of the replaced qualifications may either complete the requirements for that qualification by 31 December 2016 or transfer to this qualification. It is important to note that the replaced qualifications may be substantially different to the new qualification, and may relate to more than one new qualification.
