MEDIA RELEASE February 17, 2006 NEW CHAIRMAN FOR CAAB Retired merchant banker and company director Ed Blackadder is the new chairman of Certified Australian Angus Beef Pty Ltd. He replaces Brian Mobbs of Daylesford, Vic, who remains on the board. Mr Mobbs said CAAB was fortunate to be able to attract a chairman of Mr Blackadder’s experience, ability and standing in the business community. “He is a former board chairman of the giant Stanbroke Pastoral Co Pty Ltd, one of the world’s largest cattle producers, and a former managing director of merchant bankers Hambros Australia Ltd,” said Mr Mobbs. For the past 12 years Mr Blackadder conducted the Wallaroy Angus stud with an annual on property bull sale at Roslyn, NSW. The Wallaroy stud herd was dispersed earlier this month following the sale of part of the property. Mr Blackadder said he could now concentrate on further progress for CAAB which celebrates its 10th anniversary on July 4. In those 10 years the throughput has continued to rise and now the weekly kill exceeds 1000 head to supply rapidly expanding domestic and international markets. “CAAB is now making a significant contribution to Australian Angus breeders by further stimulating demand for high quality Angus cattle while enhancing Australia’s reputation by providing a marbled product of excellent eating quality onto the world market,” said Mr Blackadder.
