GREATER MANCHESTER POLICE JOB DESCRIPTION POST TITLE: Analysis Trainer DEPARTMENT/DIVISION/BRANCH: People and Development Branch SECTION/UNIT: Learning Technologies Section, Analysis Training Unit GRADE: F RESPONSIBLE TO: Principal Analysis Trainer RESPONSIBLE FOR: N/A AIM OF JOB: To provide effective training in relation to the National Intelligence Analysis Training Initial course, CPA module, Strategic Module, MapInfo and i2 Workstation and Notebooks MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Train police staff in the National Intelligence Analysis Training (NIAT) Initial Course, CPA Module, Strategic Module, MapInfo, the use of i2 Workstation and i2 Analysts Notebooks, advising them of their role as an Intelligence Analyst/Officer within an Operational Policing Unit (OPU) or Headquarters Department. Train Police Officers in the National Intelligence Analysis Training Initial Course, CPA Module, Strategic Module, MapInfo, the use i2 Workstation and i2 Analysts Notebooks advising them of the role of these systems within the context of an OPU or Headquarters departments. Monitor students’ performance during courses and provide constructive feedback with the aim of developing their knowledge and understanding of the subject matter. Plan and schedule all national analytical training courses and related courses to meet the direct needs and skills and the emerging needs of new and existing staff, through liaison with the Force Head of Profession (Analysis) and Principal Analysis Trainer. Evaluate individual courses and course materials, reviewing and updating course content and alternative methods of training delivery, through liaison with the Force Head of Profession (Analysis) and Principal Analysis Trainer Produce, develop and deliver training materials and courses to external markets, where necessary attending other national courses to assess the value to Greater Manchester Police and to also pay consideration to other forms of income generation. Analysis Trainer July 2008 Respond to and advise all interested parties on the i2 workstation, its use and development. Respond to requests for information at a force level from the i2 Workstation. Maintain inventories of equipment, furniture and other teaching materials . Analysis Trainer July 2008 SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS AND ABILITIES Essential Desirable Knowledge and understanding of the National Intelligence Model. Computer literate and comfortable using information technology and associated software packages. Knowledge of statistical/analytical techniques and/or mathematical modelling. Operating a knowledge of one or more of the following computer systems/software:* - i2 Workstation - MapInfo - HotSpot Detective - i2 Analysts Notebook - Greater Manchester Police Integrated Computer System (GMPICS). Knowledge of Crime Pattern Analysis theory. Training skills/ability to facilitate learning. TRAINING/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Essential Desirable Trained in Anacapa techniques. Recognised training qualification*. Carried out duties / work involving research, analytical tasks including analysis of information, monitoring patterns and trends. NVQ Assessor qualification. Involved in the preparation/presentation of reports, production of statistics, charts, diagrams etc. OTHER REQUIREMENTS Essential Keep abreast of changes in training techniques and subject matter. Desirable Full driving licence and use of own vehicle. Smart and tidy appearance to present a positive image of the unit. Has achieved a good attendance record. All essential criteria above will also be discussed in the Performance Appraisal. The desirable criteria marked with an asterisk will be desirable at selection stage but will become essential once in post and will be discussed in the Performance Appraisal.
