WINTER SEASONAL EMPLOYEES
The City of South Portland is currently hiring Winter Seasonal Employees to join the Public
Works Team.
The duties will involve snow plowing and snow removal as well as other labor tasks
associated with Public Works operations.
Knowledge of safety rules and regulations for snow removal are of most importance.
Applicants shall also perform miscellaneous laboring duties.
These positions will run from approximately November to April. The schedule will be
Monday through Friday 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM with overtime for work performed over 40
hours in a week. Applicants are required to available for snow storms and other weather and
non-weather related emergencies.
Communication and interpersonal relation requirements include the ability to understand and
follow oral and written instructions, keep simple records and to cooperate effectively with
supervisors, co-workers and outside contacts. Snow Plow experience is preferred.
Class B CDL is required for (4) four of these positions and preferred for (2) other positions.
Hourly salary for Seasonal with Class B CDL: $14.50
Hourly salary for Seasonal without CDL:
$13.00
