The Picture committee has been working on pictures but there are very few pictures of the church pre 1977 and 1978. They did have some information from Ralph May but no old pictures. New Business: No new business. Page 2 Reports: Christian Services – Lisa McKiever reported that the Lenten Food drive is in process. There will be a blanket drive in the fall. She did state that the reason there would not be a Christmas Dinner is the fact that there is no cook. Last Christmas, there was no cook. It did not have anything to do with the fact that another church had a Christmas dinner. She stated the Thanksgiving dinner was well attended and people were disappointed that there would not be one on Christmas. Parish and Family Life – Mary Beth Poe reported there was a Shrove Tuesday pancake dinner and the St. Joe/St Pat dinner would be held on March 16. . Spiritual Formation – No representative. Finance Committee – Father Ted pointed out that the church did get a grant for security for the church only. Exit lights have been replaced. New lighting outside the church and bulbs will be replaced with LED bulbs. Cemetery Committee – Father Ted reported that when Mike Logan left, there was a vacant position on the Committee. Tom Theller has since left. There were two positions vacant. Marshall Fields has replaced Tom Theller and the Committee is currently looking at people who want to become members. He also reported that the cemetery did receive an endowment of $5000. They want to hire someone to do tree maintenance. Stewardship Committee – Jackie Rose reported that the Re-registration would begin in April. During March and April there will be speakers discussing the re-registration. There will be a 2 page form that the parishioners will complete. There will be a check off section to indicate what the time and talents could be and how they would be willing to help at the church. Everyone will be asked to complete the form. They will receive an envelope with current information to update. This will be done in the church hall. (The confirmation class will meet upstairs during this time.) It was suggested that a representative from the Stewardship committee contact the Diocese to see what literature they have available. It might be less expensive than what we as a church could purchase. The re-registration will help with the BAA. Erica will input this into the computer. It was suggested that mass count be done in October and again in another time of the year. Discussion was held but other months would not give an accurate count with vacations, people going to warmer climates for the winter, etc. Altar Rosary Society – Patricia Keaton indicated that the next rummage sale will be the second week of June, due to confirmation the first week. She does have a letter prepared about the Altar Rosary Society to put in the bulletin after the new registration and Time and Talent. Knights of Columbus – Vince Yaniga reported that they are looking for a few good men. The appreciation dinner for Dwight Radcliff was a success and gave good visibility. New members of the Knights are being paired with season Knights. The Knight of the Year dinner/dance will be March 16th. They will give out the Youth of the Year, Family of the Year and Lady of the Year Awards as well. Page 3 St. Vincent DePaul –. Had a good end of the year collection. Still seeing about 3-4 people each week and assisting them financially. PSR /Youth Ministry – Vanessa Butterbaugh reported that it has been very busy. There is a list in the bulletin on the Youth Corner for Alms giving. First communion will be on April 28th. Confirmation will be June 7. The 30 hour famine was a great success. Christies provided pizza. Ten kids are going to the youth rally. Four of the ten are on the Diocesan Youth Council. Fourteen went to the Jr. High Retreat (Bosco Bash). Twenty-three are scheduled to go to Catholic Heart Camp in Betsy Lane, KY the first week in July and 18 are going to New Philadelphia, OH the second week of July, Sunday to Thursday night. Flower sale will be the last week of March. The Deanery Catechist Meeting is this coming Thursday. Will be working on kids with disabilities. Vacation Bible School – do we want one here at the church, join another church in town, Blast camp? Looking for feedback. June 26-28 the youth are going to Cedar Point. The bus holds 54. Spots for 15 youth and 8 adults left. Adults going need to be fingerprinted and complete the Protecting Gods Children course. Vanessa thanked Anne Strawser for helping out one day a week. She is greatly appreciative of all that Anne does. Choir/Cantors – Patty Immell indicated that next year they will lose Tyler Corcoran and really need more men in the adult choir. There are no t enough men to do 4 part songs. She is looking for ways to build the choir. The Guitar Choir plays about every 6 weeks and the Jr. Choir sings once a month until May. This year there are as many boys as girls in the Jr. Choir. Nursing Home – Mary Kay Wood sent a paper report. There are four nursing homes in Pickaway County and we have parishioners in each home. The residents are visited each Sunday and given communion, if their condition allows. We have three persons per nursing home with the exception of Logan Elm Health Care and there are four people scheduled there. There are prayer services at each nursing home once a month. It was hoped to have three individuals going to the nursing homes but there are only two assigned to Logan Elm Health Care and Pickaway Manor. Currently there is an individual being trained for Pickaway Manor. It is difficult to get volunteers to preside at the nursing homes. Special thanks to Mary Ann Carle who plays the piano at Logan Elm Health Care and Frank Latella who plays the piano at the other three nursing homes. Community Kitchen – Nancy Plescia reported that the next Community Kitchen would be April 29th. On New Year’s Eve there were only 16 people who came to eat. The positive of this was that there was a lot of interaction. Usually the workers are there from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Clothing Center – Dee Helsel could not be present but sent a report. She stated that she is usually the only one to work at the clothing center. The center is in need of toilet paper and bar soap, baby and children’s clothes. She asked if there could be a collection of toilet paper and bar soap. Vanessa offered to include the collection in the March 1st and 8th with the Ronald McDonald house. Bereavement – Ann Strawser indicated that there were three funerals in February within 7 days. She stated the committee is losing help. She suggested that the Bereavement Committee be Page 4 added to the time and talent list. A question about providing meals for the disabled was posed. Pat Keaton stated there is a place on line where arrangements can be made. Next Meeting: June 2, 2013 after the 11:15 mass. Closing prayer provided by Ann Short. Respectfully submitted: Judy Dossman
