Middle School Religious Formation Program Manager / Associate Youth Minister / Contemporary Choir

Director

Vision

A parish minister who has acquired specialized training in religious studies, theology, youth ministry, and contemporary Christian music. They provide leadership in the design and implementation of Middle School age programs, to assist children in building a strong foundation for spirituality, Christian living and ministry. They collaborate with other staff members in promoting the Parish Mission Statement, while seeking close communication with mutual support from the families of the youth. Also responsible for the effective planning, coordination and execution of music within the liturgical celebration of the Sunday evening Mass. Diligently promotes for contemporary choir members, both youth and adult, and then ensures proper performance of parts, according to the different kinds of contemporary music, voices, and instruments. Encourages the active participation of the faithful in singing.

Responsibilities and Tasks

Middle School Religious Formation Program Manager / Associate Youth Minister / Contemporary Choir Director:

1.

Invites, motivates, and trains volunteers, to assist as responsible leaders for various aspects of the total ministry, including catechist.

2.

Develops a learning community among the volunteers, facilitating spiritual growth, and the teachings, and doctrines of the Catholic Church.

3.

Is visibly present at youth events

4.

Promotes good relations and networks with Parish members, Faith Formation Team, Other Parish Team

Members, Cluster, and Diocesan professional peers.

5.

Maintains regular communication with Parish Team, and Pastoral Associate collaborating while under his supervision.

6.

Maintain a comprehensive filing system, including Religious Formation data base and PDS

7.

Maintain Religious Formation schedules.

8.

. Process standard administrative and Religious Formation forms.

9.

Maintain detailed records involving the accounting or operations of MS Religious Formation, MS Youth

Ministry, and Contemporary Choir.

10.

Process a variety of business transactions within the Religious Formation Office.

11.

. Create original documents and forms.

12.

. Process confidential information and communicate with individuals of significance to Religious Formation Office operations.

13.

. Is able to evaluate formally the catechetical programs.

14.

Can integrate the catechetical thrust of the parish with liturgical celebration.

15.

. Is able to assemble literary and audio-visual resources.

16.

Has organizational and time management skills.

17.

Provides music and musicians for the Sunday evening Liturgies, and a few other major celebrations.

18.

Keeps abreast of current developments in liturgy and in music and directs music ministers to available training workshops and formational opportunities.

Formation, Training and Criteria for Readiness

Preparation for this position requires:

1. Proven competency in Catholic theology.

2. Knowledge of the psychological and spiritual development of children and adolescents.

3. Knowledge of the principles of youth counseling and spiritual direction.

4. Interpersonal and group dynamic skills focused on youth programs.

5. Preparation for this ministry demands training in music and liturgy.

A degree or educational credits in youth ministry, religious direction, secondary education, music or related fields is extremely helpful.

Qualities

Effective functioning in this ministry requires a deep faith commitment and an ability to articulate it, The capacity to relate to Middle School Youth, a spirit of generosity, and the ability to delegate and collaborate are essential qualities because the this ministry will often intersects with other parish ministers. Flexibility, realism, enthusiasm and a sense of humor are also important qualities. Be a person of prayer, be sensitive to the cultural experience of parishioners and understand their spirituality and worship life.

Office Hours

This is a Full Time position usually 30 – 40 hours a week. Days and hours may vary, due to the needs and functions of Religious Formation Operations. This position requires working some evenings and weekends.

Position is 11 months of the year. Position will be off for four consecutive weeks starting the first full week of

July. Position reports directly to the Pastoral Associate.
