Look out for more information. (See attached Memo) PERSONAL HAPPENINGS People in the News..... On Sunday October 2, 2005 the Palliative Care Team "Walked for a Cure" for Juvenile Diabetes. The walk was held at Van Cortlandt Park and over 1200 walkers attended and sponsored by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund. All donations go directly to research to discover a cure for this disease. See attached photo, pictured from left to right are NP Janice Simpson and her family: son Caswell and daughters Colleen and Ashleigh. To Dr. Hal Strelnick, who was awarded the Power to Change Our World Award on Saturday, October 29, 2005. Dr. Strelnick received this award from the Family Medicine Education Consortium at the Northeast Regional Meeting of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine in Hershey, PA. The award is made to a family physician who has contributed to making change beyond the usual roles of clinician, teacher, and researcher. Colleagues Drs. Victoria Gorski, Eliana Korin, and Janet Townsend, at Dr. Alice Fornari’s suggestion, nominated Dr. Strelnick. OPPORTUNITIES Family Medicine Research Fellowships Two Fellowship positions available July 1, 2006 for residency trained family practitioners with interest in learning to become primary care and health services researchers. Entry level faculty positions split 50% research and 50% clinical. Will carry out a mentored clinical research project, and, if eligible, may earn a Masters Degree in Clinical Research Training Program from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
