DESCRIPTION OF YOUTH CULTURE CENTER
Youth Center acts as a manager of the premises used for implementation of all publicinterest programs in the field of culture, youth, sport and tourism. The building is a part of
public infrastructure of Brežice municipality, and it is the only building in the municipality
meant primarily for public-interest programs in the field of culture.
Characteristics of YCC and YH buildings:

In order to strengthen regional development potential, municipality Brežice and Youth
Center support the development of tourism, culture and international youth activities. To
this end, the greenest part of the town Brežice was renovated and existing infrastructure
was restored. Newly-founded Youth Culture Center (YCC) and Youth Hostel (YH) will become
a center of social life in town, a meeting place for young dynamic people and a platform for
innovation and creativity.
New infrastructure and activities will create the added value for YCC, YH and the local
community, by contributing to the development of tourism, raising the general cultural level
and facilitating the professional development of young artists, involving members of local
community (not only young people) into various activities, reducing unemployment,
establishing the Youth Center as an international educational center of South-Eastern
Europe. All this will help to achieve a better visibility of the town Brežice and a more
effective use of its cultural and natural resources.
International culture center provides a wide variety of new international cultural programs,
non-formal
education
programs,
informational
and
infrastructural
support
and
accommodation. The expansion of the Youth Center’s activities and development of new
long-term programs involving young people from outside Posavje region called for budget
accommodation for program participants. As a response, the Youth Hostel was created,
combining affordable price, convenient location, modern facilities and a wide choice of
outdoor activities in the heart of Posavje.
The guests of the Youth Hostel are welcome to use modern infrastructure and facilities, as
well as enjoy a wide variety of tourist attractions in the area. Our guests can visit the famous

thermal water resort Terme Čatež, participate in adrenaline programs, including mountain
biking, canoeing, paint ball, archery and horse riding, take part in biking tours along local
wine routes, explore the most beautiful knight castles in Europe, enjoy the superb music
events and take part in local happenings.
Vision
We aim to make our local area more open for cultural production, education, international
cooperation and exchange of good practice in youth work. In 5 years we will become a
leading center for non-formal education and international cooperation in South-Eastern
Europe, which will also encourage the development of tourism in Posavje region.
Goals by the programme:
CULTURE
To provide the local community members, especially young people, with the free access to
the infrastructure. For them and with them we develop programs and activities in the field
of active cultural co-operation and encourage them to take charge for personal and cultural
development of youth and local environment.
NON FORMAL EDUCATION
To obtain key competences, personal and professional growth of individuals involved into
the educational process, involve the unemployed first in the role of students, and then in the
role of educators.
INFORMATION
To provide young people with better access to high-quality information materials, ensure
efficient youth information and consulting, encourage young people for the active
implementation of their ideas and realization of ambitions, motivate young people to
discover the opportunities on the way to achievement, encourage young people to
implement their projects thus helping them become a part of civil society, decrease and
prevent specific negative behaviors, facilitate social inclusion, strengthen youth autonomy,
provide help and active support with critical decision-making, train youth informators,
ensure the opportunity for quality free time.
INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS

Main goals: to learn about and to participate in new programs (Leonardo da Vinci, Socrates,
Youth in Action), encourage young people to participate in EVS and assume the role of
sending organization, actively involve other organizations from local area in the
implementation of YinA and Cmepius – Leonardo da Vinci, encourage young people to be
active citizens in general, and active citizens of EU in particular, to encourage European
cooperation in the youth sector.
PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH
To provide children with the opportunity to spend their free time in a creative and organized
way.
