Knit-In Wednesdays

Come celebrate the summer along with knitting, YfY and
friendship. Plan to bring at least one show-and-tell item

Meet & Greet Book Signing with Lorna Miser
Friday, July 29, Friday, 10am – 1pm
Come out to meet Lorna! She will be in the shop signing
books, schmoozing, answering questions and giving you
lots of inspiration. Come over and hang out!

You are welcome every 1st and 2nd Wednesday of the
month. This is your night to drop everything and come
relax and knit with us. The shop is open for customers
during Knitters Anonymous evenings.
Divas Book Club
“Tips for Knitting with Hand-Dyed Yarn”
with Lorna Miser
July 30, Saturday, 10am – 1pm
Get lots of easy ideas for using hand-dyed yarns in ways
that will show them off at their best. Learn how to use
simple techniques that will give you control of the
beautiful hand-dyed yarns you love. You will see dozens of
garments that show not only pattern stitches that work
well for these yarns, but other ways to show the yarns to
their best. The emphasis is on combining hand-dyed yarns
with other accenting yarns and using simple, easy
patterns. The easiest knitting will look so dramatic with
these yarns. Students should bring several different multicolored yarns (ideally NOT sock weight) as well as several
solids that both match and coordinate and needles to
match the yarn.
Fee: $65. Seats limited. Class fees are non-refundable.
Baah Trunk Show
August 6, Saturday, 10am – 4pm
Here is your opportunity to experience the extraordinary
colorful world of Baah yarns. Baah yarns are creatively
hand dyed by local fiber artisan and knitting designer Mira
Cole. Come to the Baah Trunk Show and be inspired by
these unique yarns and knitted samples! Bring your
needles and enjoy the day with us.
Knit-In for the Cure – Charitable Event!
September 18, Sunday, 11am – 4pm
Donate a knitted or crocheted item for the San Diego Susan G.
Komen Knit for the Cure events in November. Get started on
your project with us on this October Sunday at the shop. We’ll
have refreshments, door prizes and more…an RSVP is desired
– so call us now to join this worthy cause! Watch for more

Beaded Bracelets
July 16, Saturday, 10am – 1pm
This class is a YFY exclusive. A great project for knitters of
all skill levels…these beaded bangles are so fun to knit.
Learn how to incorporate beads in your knitting by
creating this fabulous beaded bangle. Kits that include
everything you need to make your first bangle will be
available for purchase before class (knitting needles
excluded). This bracelet will become your next knitting
addiction. Come see the samples on display at the shop.

The Russian Join
July 23, Saturday, 10:30 – 11am
The Russian join…learn how to join yarn without knots.
Do it the Russian way!

Knit Fix
July 23, Saturday, 1 – 3pm
Do you know how to rip? Frog? Fix mistakes? Tink? Fix
dropped stitches? Take this class and you will be able to
identify mistakes and fix them without aggravation and
frustration. Learn the anatomy of stitches how to fix them
and much more!! Homework is required prior to class.
Class fee: $25/2 hours
Refine your Spindling Technique
August 6, Saturday, 11am – 2pm
Have you been spinning with a spindle and want a chance
to ask some questions and get some advice on spinning or
plying or both? Then this is the class for you. In this
unstructured class, bring your spindling and plying
questions (and your spindling successes to share with your
fellow spindlers!), and we’ll work together on refining your
technique.
Class fee: $30/3 hours
Getting Gauge
August 6, Saturday, 9 – 11am
Everything you ever wanted to know about gauge will be
answered in this class. Understanding and “getting gauge”
is the most important step for your knitting projects to be
successful. It will also ensure the proper fit of any knitted
project. Understanding gauge will allow you learn how to
design your own garments, to substitute alternative yarns,
or change the style. Come to this class and you can say “I
get gauge.”
Class fee: $25/2 hours
Lil’ Dress
August 6, 20 & 27, Saturdays, 2 – 4pm
Knit this sweet little two-color sleeveless dress in a size
range of 6 months to 6 years. Your special little girl will
wear it as a tunic or as a little sundress. Lots of accents to
keep the knitting interesting: a ruffled hem, picot edging
at neck, and a 3-color braided trim at the waist. It is the
perfect easy knit because the only seaming is at the
shoulders! Come see the sample at the shop.

Larissa Shawlette
Aug 9 & 16, Tuesdays, 6 – 8pm
Shawlettes are in! Knit this awarded Win-for-Design’
hand-knit at this year’s San Diego County Fair. The
triangular shawlette is knitted top-down in a combination
of lace and cables. It is a must have for your fashion
wardrobe. See the sample on display at the shop.
Class fee: $40/2 – 2 hr session
Lintilla Ruffle Shawl
August 13, Saturday, 9am – noon
This beautifully scalloped shawl is narrow, triangular,
slightly asymmetrical with a slight short row ruffled edge.
This shawl is uniquely designed with short rows and is
worked completely in a simple garter stitch. You will be a
master of short rows after knitting the Lintilla. Fun and
quick to knit. Sample on display at the shop.
Class fee: $30/3 hours
Comfort Slippers
Aug 13, 20, 27 & Sept 3, Saturdays, 12:30 – 2pm
These slippers are perfect to keep your feet warm in the
California winter. They are knitted from cuff to toe on
double pointed needles. A quick and fun knit while
learning the anatomy of a sock. See sample at the shop.
Class fee: $45/4 – 1.5 hr sessions
Pick UP
August 13, Saturday, 2:30 – 3pm
Learn how to pick up stitches and how to make the process
easy and quick. Homework required.
Class fee: $10 – 30 minutes
Child’s Zippered Hoodie Vest
Aug 18 & Sept 1, Thursdays, 6 – 8:30pm
This easy-to-knit hoodie will fit sizes 2, 4, 6 & 8. There is
minimal seaming…this vest is knit in one piece including
the hood. You will learn how to stitch a zipper on a knitted
garment. Knit this charming hoodie for your favorite little
one to wear just in time for the pumpkin pickin’ season.

Gloves…4 fingers and a thumb
August 20 & 27, Saturdays, 9am – noon
Have you ever wanted to knit gloves? Don’t be intimidated
because this pattern from designer Nora Gaughn make
glove making easy to knit on double pointed needles. The
clever shaping makes them “fit like a glove.” Made from
Frog Tree’s yummy sport weight alpaca, they are warm
and cozy. The vintage style makes them fashionable and
sophisticated. Sample on display at the shop.

Café Au Lait Mitts
Aug 30, Sept 6 & 13, Tuesdays, 6 – 7:30pm
Wear these stylish fingerless mitts on a cool day, with
fingers free to hold that warm cup of coffee. Also great to
wear at the air conditioned office, they will keep your
hands cozy no matter where you are. These mitts make a
fantastic gift. The Cafe Au Lait is knitted in the round –
that means no purls! See the sample on display at the
shop.

Basic Blocking
Sept 3, Saturday, 2:30 – 4:30pm
You’ve heard of blocking, but have you tried it yet? This
class will cover the basics of blocking so you can learn
why, how and when to block. No more mystery about
blocking – you’ll learn how to give that finished look to
your work. The class features hands-on demonstration to
enhance your understanding. Open to all skill levels.
Class fee: $25/2 hours
How to Pick the Perfect Pattern
Sept 10, Saturday, 12:30 – 1pm
To make sure your knitting will be successful every time,
come and learn how to pick the perfect knitting pattern for
you or for others.
Class fee: $10 – 30 minutes
Captiva Wrap
Sept 10 & 17, Saturdays, 1 – 3pm
Following the gentle curve of a wave, this wrap has a
delicate scalloped lace edging. Worked from side to side,
the short row shaping forms the curve then tapers to a tail
making it wonderful for staying in place over your
shoulder. The edging is worked with the piece. Come see
the sample at the shop.
Class fee: $40/2 – 2 hr sessions
Adorable Girlie Baby Booties
Sept 17 & 24, Saturdays, 9 – 11am
Oooo my! These are way too adorable! I can’t stop
admiring them. The shaping on these booties is so clever!
The design is exceptional. You won’t be able to knit just
one pair. They are soooooooooo cute. Sizes: newborns to 1
year. Be sure to see the sample at the shop.
Class fee: $30/2 – 2 hr sessions
Smocked Scarf
Sept 10, Saturday, 9 – 11:30am
Have you knitted using the smocking technique? How
about rouching? Learn these fun techniques while knitting
this stylish scarf. Easy to learn, easy to knit and lots of fun!
Homework before class. Come see the sample at the shop.
Class fee: $25/2.5 hours
Drop In Project Class
Friday mornings: 10am – noon
Drop in on any Friday morning to work on the project of
your choice! A teacher will be there to guide you, answer
questions, give help and teach new things. You will join
other students who are at different levels, listening,
learning and seeing what they are doing, giving you
inspiration and motivation.
Class fee: $12/2 hours
Learn to Knit
By appointment only
Want to learn to knit? We will get you started and teach
you the basics: cast on, knit, purl, bind off, increases,
decreases and more! Come join the fun. We ask that
classes be completed within a four-week period.
Class fee: $50/3 - 1.5 hour sessions
Specialty Workshop
By appointment only
This class is scheduled when you want! Schedule one hour
of personal 1-on-1 instruction. Need help with a project?
Want to learn something new? This personalized class is
just for you and only you.
Class fee: $25/1 hour





Mawata/Silk Hankies
Sept 24, Saturday, Noon – 3pm
Come play with silk! This class is both for spinners and
for knitters who don’t want to spin but do want to try
something new. Silk hankies can be either spun before
knitting, or can be pulled apart and then immediately
knitted without spinning. In this class, you will learn how
to work with this fun form of silk fiber by making a pair of
knitted mitts. Perfect for gift-giving (get those holiday
presents started early!), or keep them for yourself. Come
and see the sample at the shop.
Class fee: $30/3 hours

Students must register and pay in advance for all
classes. Please complete the class registration form at
least seven days in advance of the class.
Please arrive on time prepared and ready to knit
Materials are purchased separately and we ask that all
class materials be purchased at Yarning for You.
Please note that missed classes cannot be made up.

You can also register via mail or by phone.
Class fees are fully refundable up to one week prior to
the beginning of class. After that time fees will be
non-refundable and non-transferable. In the event
that Yarning for You cancels a class, registrants will
receive a full refund.
