2. Precautions
The motor and shaft of the cutter are connected by chain belt and gear transmission.
The following precautions should help prevent an accident:
 Never put your hands near the cutter feed inlet.
 People with long hair, dresses, neckties, shawls, etc. should not be allowed near
the machine while shredding.
 Non-corrugated cardboard is not to be shredded.
 Never let hard materials like packing staples enter the cutter feed inlet. This could
permanently damage the machine.
3. Machine Operation
1. Turn the power switch clockwise from “Off” to “Shred”.
2. NOTE: DO NOT attempt to shred non-corrugated board!
Feed corrugated material the desired filler width marking (within the cutter
capacity). Excess material will be sheared off by a shear blade on the left edge of
the shredder.
3. Turn the machine off when not being used.
4. Should the shredder become jammed, turn the switch counterclockwise to the
“Reverse” position to feed the material out of the shredder blades.
4. Cutter Capacity
The type of material, thickness and density of the corrugated determines the width and
thickness of the material that you can run through the shredder. In front of the cutter
inlet is a measuring label with 4 color bands (see picture below). The green band
represents standard single wall 3/16 inch corrugated, the blue band represents double
wall 1/4 inch, the yellow band represents 3/8 inch, and the red band represents 5/8
inch material.

5. Maintenance
1. Keep the machine clean of dust build-up.
2. Lubricate grease fittings 1 time every 2 weeks (fittings are located under inlet
platform).
6. Troubleshooting
1. Shred-It-Tor does not turn on: Is the power circuit breaker tripped? Is the machine
power plug and cord in good condition? Is the power switch on the machine turned
fully clockwise?
2. Shred-It-Tor becomes blocked with material: Turn the power switch
counterclockwise. The machine will feed in reverse. Remove the blocked material.
3. Shred-It-Tor becomes slow and noisy: Turn off the machine immediately and pull
out the power plug. Check the lubrication system. If necessary, add lubricant. Is
the motor overheated? Allow the motor to cool down before continuing the
shredding process.
