Development Officer, Individual Giving
Alzheimer's Association, Massachusetts/New Hampshire Chapter
Full-time (40 hours/week)
Overview:
Founded in 1980, the mission of the Alzheimer's Association, Massachusetts/New Hampshire Chapter is
to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research, to provide and enhance care and
support for all affected, and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. The
Association operates out of its main office in Watertown, with regional offices in Springfield, Worcester,
Raynham, and Bedford, NH. The MA/NH Chapter is a founding chapter of the national Alzheimer's
Association.
General Statement of Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Vice President of Development, the Development Officer of Individual Giving will play
a key role in achieving the goals of the Alzheimer's Association. As a staff member of a comprehensive
development program, he/she will work closely with the VP of Development to oversee the
implementation of a robust stewardship program designed to engage and retain donors with the capacity
to give in the $500 to $9,999 range. Additionally, he/she will maintain an active portfolio of prospects
and work closely with the Associate Director of Major Gifts to solicit gifts and implement moves
management strategies.
Core Job Responsibilities:
 Maintain active portfolio of 120 prospects; responsible for identifying, qualifying, cultivating,
soliciting, closing and stewarding major gifts donors and prospects; through collaboration with
National Planned Giving Officer, identify prospects and market planned giving opportunities.
 Create and manage cultivation events and coordinate annual recognition reception for Board of
Directors and Leadership Council.
 Increase overall contact with donors; schedule and conduct at least 10 monthly face-to-face meetings
with donors and prospects.
 Conduct research on existing and prospective donors and maintain a tracking system to ensure
information is recorded in the donor database and shared as appropriate.
 Ensure accurate and timely processing and acknowledgement of all major gift donors and prospects;
coordinate bonding call program to $100 and above donors.
 Implement donor stewardship and recognition program for Alois Society Members which includes
regular, ongoing substantive communication. Create biannual President’s Message newsletter,
research/program reports, and annual donor recognition opportunities (via annual report listing and
mailing and on display).
 Other duties as assigned by Vice President of Development.
Education/Professional Requirements:





Bachelor’s degree required.
At least five years related experience, with proven success in fundraising or a related field.
Superior communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to support and articulately promote the mission of the Alzheimer's Association.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Experience with fundraising software, preferably
Raiser’s Edge, and donor database applications. Experience with on-line prospect research tools a
plus.

Flexible and willing to step in and provide hands-on assistance as needed.
Comfort working in medium sized non-profit organizations.
