Smithco SERVICE BULLETIN# 122 Date: May 2, 2008 Product: 76-000-DF/76-000-DB Serial Number Range: G2018 TO G2077 & G2102 PROBLEM: We have found a potential problem where heat from the exhaust pipe may cause the throttle and choke cables to seize up and fail. SOLUTION: We are supplying a high temp heat sleeve to cover the cables in the problem area. Parts List: 3 Plastic Ties 1 Hose Clamp (18-222) 1 Fire Sleeve (8983-20) 1. You will have to remove the fiberglass cowl over the engine. 2. First raise the seat panel then remove 5/16 bolts holding cowl to seat tube and bolts holding the cowl to the exhaust guard. 3. Unhook the throttle cable and choke cable from the engine control. Slide the fire sleeve over the throttle and choke cables. Then re-hook the throttle and choke cable. A pair of needle nose pliers works the best on the throttle because there is not a lot of room for your fingers. 4. Slide the fire sleeve up to where the cables are connected to the engine. Install the hose clamp about 4” down from the end of the fire sleeve and tighten clamp. 5. Make sure the cables are tied to the cable bracket down on the hydraulic pump. Secure the lower part of the fire sleeve with the remaining plastic ties. 6. Check throttle and choke cable for proper operation. 7. Reinstall engine cowl. Smithco is allowing 1 hour for warranty.
