Auditions are Tuesday March 10 3:30- 7:00pm, in room 400
Sign-up time slots will be posted the week prior to auditions

Prepared Monologue - EVERYONE
Content:
 Select a monologue from a, published play, preferred (Do not use self-written material)
 It should be no longer than one minute in length.
 It should be no shorter than 40 seconds long.
Prepared Song
Content:
 Select a song from a, published musical
(Do not use pop songs)

16-bar cut, 16 bars is typically one verse and one
chorus. If the song does not have a chorus, it's two
verses.

Sung a cappella (no music)
***Not being able to sing will not prohibit
anyone from being selected for the class**

Pick a monologue
Pick a song
"Prepared" means rehearsed and fully memorized
Choose characters with whom you identify.
It should allow for vocal and emotional variety.
Performance energy and stage presence are important.
Incorporate gestures and facial expression.
Motivated movement during the audition is desirable.

Avoid using chairs and other props.
Avoid sitting or kneeling on the stage.
School appropriate language and subject matter.
Use standard stage English. Avoid accents and
dialects.
What part of the song do you want to sing? You do not
have to sing the song form the beginning.
Technical Theatre/Design and Stage
Management ***NON Singing Option
Students wishing to be a part of the advanced theatre
class but prefer the technical/ backstage side of the
theatre, can choose to write a personal statement
describing their theatre experience and ambitions in
theatre.
Content:
 1 page (300-500 words), typed
11 inch margins, 12 point Times New Roman font,
and minimal spacing elements

Answer the following question in your
paper.
1. Why are you interested in this class?
2. What are your short-term and long-term
goals in theatre?
3. What qualities do you think you need to
possess in order to be successful?
4. What makes you able to work well as part
of a team?
