General Description (Purpose and Function):
The Tissue Technician supports the Processing Supervisor in the cleaning, cutting, shaping, inspecting, and
packaging of tissues for transplantation. The Technician is also responsible for complying with the quality assurance
requirements and quality system goals of the bank as mandated by federal, state, and trade regulations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities (For Non-exempt Employees Include Percent of Effort):












Preparation of operating room and processing room procedures as specifically described in SOPs.
Preparation of aseptic processing, environmental set-up including all equipment supplies and monitoring of sterile
rooms.
Processing of all allografts for clinical such as bone, soft tissues, skin, autografts, tracheas and other tissues as
instructed by Processing Supervisor or designee.
Preparation and preservation of all types of bone for cutting and shaping into allografts.
o Tissue storage
o Control-rate freezing
o Placement of specimens into freezers (mechanical and liquid nitrogen)
o Packaging Equipment
o Temperature Monitoring of Equipment
o Lyophilization
Preparation of engineered allografts on a CNC machine .
Decalcification of bone as applicable per standard Operating Manual.
Preparation of osteoarticular bone allografts.
Identification of allografts and producing of radiographs of the same.
Responsible for all data entry and completion of paperwork.
Familiarity and knowledge of information contained in the Tissue Bank Manuals
Processing of allografts including cleaning of extraneous tissues, cutting and CNC all applicable business unit
needs.
Will be required to perform any other task or function within the department on an as-needed or emergency
basis, and as assigned by Manager or COO.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
 Strong interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate well.

Education Requirements (Essential Requirements):
 High School or equivalent and college preferred in an appropriate field of study.
Work Experience Requirements (Essential Requirements):
 One year experience preferred in Tissue Banking or Operating Room or Manufacturing environment.
