The second highest rainfall value of 35.1mm was recorded at Kaimosi 1 Meteorological Station on 20th July, 2014. It is noted that during this period, Kaimosi Meteorological Station recorded the highest seven-day rainfall total of 74.9mm Figure 2 depicts the spatial distribution of the rainfall totals for the seven-day review period (14th to 20th July, 2014) over the country. Night-time (minimum) temperatures generally decreased over most stations and increased over fewer stations. Wajir Meteorological Stations recorded the highest daily maximum temperature of 35.4°C on 15th July, 2014 while Nyahururu Meteorological Station recorded the lowest daily minimum temperature of 4.8°C on 19th July, 2014. Lodwar Meteorological Station recorded the highest seven-day average maximum temperature of 34.3°C while Nyahururu Meteorological Station recorded the lowest sevenday average minimum temperature of 7.5°C. DETAILED REGIONAL FORECAST FOR THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS 22ND TO 28TH JULY, 2014 The Lake Victoria Basin, Highlands West of the Rift Valley, Central and South Rift Valley (counties of Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Transnzoia, Baringo, Uasingishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Laikipia, Nakuru, Narok, Kajiado, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma and Busia) are expected to experience rains over few places in the morning giving way to sunny intervals for entire forecast period. Showers and thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon/evening over several places throughout the forecast period. The rainfall is expected to be relatively intense; Northwestern (counties of Turkana, West Pokot and Samburu) are expected to experience sunny intervals in the morning throughout the forecast period and afternoon/evening showers and thunderstorms over few places on the first 5 days of the forecast period. The regions covered are expected to be on our border with Uganda; Central Highlands including, Nairobi area (counties of Nairobi, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka) are expected to experience predominantly early morning cloudiness accompanied by occasional light rains/drizzle over few places giving way to sunny intervals. Showers are expected in the afternoon over few places throughout the forecast period; Northeastern (counties of Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo) are expected to experience sunny intervals in the morning and afternoon throughout the forecast period. The last 2 days are however expected to experience rains over few places in the morning; Southeastern (counties of Kitui, Makueni, Machakos and Taita Taveta) are expected to experience sunny intervals in the morning and afternoon throughout the forecast period; The Coastal strip (counties of Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale) are expected to experience showers in the morning and mainly sunny intervals in the afternoon during the forecast period except on the second day whereby only sunny intervals will prevail in the morning.
