RELIGIOUS OF MARY IMMACULATE Residence for Girls RELIGIOUS OF MARY IMMACULATE 15-16 Southwell Gardens London SW7 4RL The Religious of Mary Immaculate in London, as elsewhere, are dedicated to the service of young people. They admit to the Christian atmosphere of their hostel young women between the ages of 18 and 27, of any creed or nationality, who are obliged to live away from home for reasons of work or study. The length of stay is restricted to one year. This may be renewed in special circumstances. The hostel has a capacity of sixty five girls. Single or double rooms are available and there are also several three-bedded rooms. The hostel is centrally heated with hot and cold water in every room. There is a Study-room, laundry, a lounge with colour TV., cooking facilities and a visitors room. Only breakfast is provided. There are several routes of similar distances. Within easy reach are Kensington Gardens, a good shopping area, several Museums and schools. There is a local authority language school, which caters for all levels. Religious Services: Daily Mass Sunday Mass 8.00 a.m. (English) 6.30 p.m. (Spanish) HOSTEL REGULATIONS 1. In the interest of general well-being, all residents must be in their own rooms by 11 p.m. After this hour, all radios etc. should be turned low to avoid disturbance to others. 8. Punctuality at breakfast-time is requested. 2. Visitors may be received in the downstairs lounge until 10.30 p.m. They are only allowed in residents’ rooms with the permission of the Sisters-in-charge but gentleman will only be allowed upstairs in exceptional circumstances such as illness, etc. Residents will be responsible for meeting and dismissing their visitors at the front door. 10. Rent is payable weekly and in advance. 11. The booking fee is £. 30 payable on confirmation by post or personally. This fee is non-returnable and it is not part of the rent. 12. On arrival, passport or an identity document must be presented. 3. A public telephone is available to receive and make calls up to 10.30 p.m. 4. Whenever they go out, all residents must deposit their keys with reception, retrieving them on their return. 5. The front door will remain open until 11 p.m. Sunday to Thursday inclusive. On Friday and Saturday until 12. Residents may sleep out only for special reasons, having informed the Sister-in-charge and having left an address and/or telephone number where they may be contacted in cases of emergency. This also applies to absence at the weekend. There is a special signing-out book in Reception. Failure to comply with this regulations is reason enough for a resident to be dismissed. 6. Residents are expected to clean their own rooms which should be tidied. Common rooms ( T.V. & Study etc.) and toilet facilities must be left as one would wish to find them. 7. Residents are asked to bring and launder their own towels and bedlinen. 9. No responsibility can be taken for the loss of personal property. 13. Not less than a week’s notice of departure must be given or rent in lieu must be paid. 14. Rooms must be vacated and luggage removed by 11.am of the last day. Absences: There will be NO reduction of fees for absences of less than a week.
