SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 896 In Memory of Emily Kay Murph WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Dallas and Corpus Christi in mourning the tragic loss of Emily Kay Murph, who died May 18, 1997, at the age of 40; and WHEREAS, Born January 20, 1957, in Corpus Christi, Emily Kay Murph graduated from Rockport-Fulton High School in 1975; she earned a bachelor's degree in physical therapy from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and a master's degree in physical therapy from Texas Woman's University; and WHEREAS, Emily Murph was dedicated to her work as a physical therapist at Methodist Hospital in Dallas; she was known for her proficiency and for her deep concern for her patients; and WHEREAS, An exemplary lady, Emily Murph was respected in the community for her many accomplishments; and WHEREAS, She was an outdoors enthusiast who loved the beach, and she was a devout Christian and a member of Highland Park Baptist Church in Dallas; and WHEREAS, A woman of integrity, strength, and generosity, she gave unselfishly of her time to others, and her wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew her; and WHEREAS, Emily Murph was a devoted daughter, sister, and aunt, and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 75th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Emily Kay Murph: her mother, Sister Mary Louise Mount; her twin sister, Melanie Harrison; her brothers, Howard Murph and Larry Murph; and her nieces and nephews; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Emily Kay Murph.
