SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 14
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in
recognizing the Kmart Distribution Center in Corsicana on its
outstanding accomplishments in safety; and
WHEREAS, The Kmart Distribution Center is hosting a luncheon
on January 22, 1999, in celebration of the new record the center
has set by working one million hours without a lost-time injury;
and
WHEREAS, The luncheon will be attended by several
administrators from the corporate office located in
Troy, Michigan; and
WHEREAS, The Kmart Distribution Center consists of
approximately 850 associates serving 148 Kmart stores in a
five-state region; the center ships 650,000 cartons of
merchandise every week and provides an annual payroll of
about $18 million per year; and
WHEREAS, The largest employer in Navarro County, the
center is one of 13 hardline distribution centers located
throughout the United States and is the second center to
reach the one million hour mark without a lost-time injury;
and
WHEREAS, The Kmart Distribution Center is respected
throughout the country for its high standards and effective
business practices; the center was chosen by the Corsicana
Chamber of Commerce and the Corsicana Industrial Foundation
as the Industry of the Month for December of 1998; and
WHEREAS, The executives of the center consistently strive
for excellence in all areas of operation, and they and the
center's dedicated employees deserve to be proud of their
superior achievements in safety; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
76th Legislature, hereby commend the Kmart Distribution Center
on its exceptional success and extend congratulations to all
associated with the center on reaching this one million mark;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the center as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
