Each grade level is reading a specific book through the reading classrooms. Each of the three titles is related to the theme of non-bullying / individual acceptance. The students apply reading standards, and create reflective writing pieces, poems, messages, etc to respond to the theme. We tie in the message with our PBS expectations. The "Battle" will take place in February; with each grade level having a 5 member student team, competing against a 5 member staff team. A 30 question trivia type game is how contestants collect points. The team with the most points has "bragging rights." Student participants are rewarded with a trip to the Golden Corral. This activity is a great way to get adults and students talking about books!
