HOME GROWN - Funding Opportunities
Funding Central
http://www.fundingcentral.org.uk/ - a free website for all third sector organisations,
including community groups. To help you find out the best sources of funding for the kind of
activity/organisation you are doing.
Young Suffolk
http://www.onesuffolk.co.uk/youngsuffolk/Funding - the site is specifically for groups
working with young people, but offers a lot of information and support. Groups would need
to be members, which costs about £30 a year, to get some of the benefits.
Open Weekend in Suffolk Grant
http://www.openweekendinsuffolk.com/ visit the website for an application form.
The London 2012 ‘Open Weekend’, is an annual UK-wide celebration of art, culture, sport, and
everything that makes up the London 2012 Games. It’s an opportunity for local community groups to
showcase themselves and inspire others. Suffolk Open Weekend is making grants available to
enable parish or town councils, community groups and groups of individuals across Suffolk to hold
small cultural and sporting events to mark London 2012 Open Weekend. Groups can apply for a
grant up to £500. Events must be scheduled to happen within Suffolk during the ‘2012 Open
Weekend’ which is 23rd to 25th July 2010. If you need further information please contact 01473
264654 or email: Katrina.Copping@suffolk.gov.uk
Suffolk Single Gateway programme
The Suffolk Single Gateway was set up as a 'one stop shop' for publicising and allocating
county council grants, to voluntary and community groups. The aim is to improve ease of
access to the funds available, in order to support work by co-ordinating the application and
decision making processes of the different funding streams.
There is a limited budget, although they try to support as many applications as possible.
Social care and Health Grant Aid give a small amount of ‘core purpose’ funding to voluntary
and community groups that do not receive any other funding from Suffolk County Council.
However, most of the funding streams will only provide funding for development projects.
Please note the maximum one group can receive in one calendar year is £3000.
Suffolk Single Gateway – Arts For All funding
Many people find it difficult to take part in the arts, perhaps for social or physical reasons or
maybe just because there isn’t very much going on in their area. Arts for All can help to
overcome these difficulties, by supporting innovative, high-quality arts projects, which
benefit people with limited opportunities to enjoy the arts.
The fund can help with the costs of running a project, such as artists’ fees, marketing and
publicity, venue hire and specialist transport costs; it cannot be used for buying equipment
or large items such as buildings. Arts for All supports new projects. If you run a regular
programme of activities or events, you will have to show how the project extends your
normal activities.
Arts for All cannot support:
 Arts activities that are part of a fundraising scheme;
 Costs for building work or equipment;
 Groups wanting funding for their usual activities;
 Projects that only benefit one person; and
 Projects that have already begun
If you are thinking of making an application, please contact the arts consultant for an
informal chat about your project and general advice on funding (see below).
Voluntary and community groups and not-for-profit arts organisations are welcome to apply
to Arts for All; individuals are not eligible. Applications for projects that have already got
funding from other sources are welcomed and, in fact, these applications are normally
prioritized. The ‘other sources’ could be either public funds, like Awards for All, Grants for
the Arts, the National Foundation for Youth Music and the Heritage Lottery Fund, or private
and business sponsorship. For more information about Lottery Funds, please contact the
arts consultant.
The maximum available is £1500 but this is rarely granted, particularly if there are other
sources of funding available for your project. Arts for All normally funds one-off projects so
funding is for one year only. However, if your group is planning a longer programme of
activities and is applying to other schemes for funds over two to three years, they will try to
support you with longer-term funding.
