Overview: This topic is focusing on geographical skills such as using maps to locate information and plotting routes. We will also be looking at the history of America and how the early pioneers moved west as well as their relations with the Native American Indians. Geography/History: Children will learn about finding America using an Atlas and how the map of America changed as the Pioneers moved west in the 19th century. We will explore what life was like both for the pioneers and the natives in America at the time. RE: This term in Religious Education we will be looking at the theme of Journeys – children will be looking at what the word ‘journeys’ means for them and some famous journeys that happened in the Bible. Art Music P4C We will be focusing on the skill of painting the work of Monet as a stimulus. Singing songs from the wild west e.g She’ll be coming round the mountains. Native American chants. Children will ask philosophical questions and explore ‘big’ concepts. How can you help at home: Read with your child for 10 minutes each night.
