Details of the work will be made available via our website in due course. Aspects of the previous two year’s work was broadcast in May’s BBC4 documentary ‘The Somme: Secret Tunnel Wars’ which focused on some of the stories we have uncovered at La Boisselle. All of our work is financed by donations. To aid this year’s fundraising we have organised an evening of talks to be held at Reading University on Friday 18 October. There will be an update on the latest work and the unique value of the La Boisselle Project from Peter Barton and Jeremy Banning followed by a talk from Tessa Dunlop (BBC’s Coast) on Marie of Romania during the First World War. The final talk of the evening will be actor and comedian Hugh Dennis talking about his family’s wartime experiences and what he learnt by walking in their footsteps whilst appearing in the BBC’s ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’ Tickets are priced at £20 (including glass of wine on arrival). Doors open at 6.45pm with the first talk beginning at 7.15pm. We hope that RBL members and supporters will be able to come along for what promises to be an interesting evening and we really appreciate your support.
