Miss Maritza Morrison
Affix: Lewisisle
Breed: Cavalier King Charles Spaniels
Judge’s Profile:
The Lewisisle affix was derived from the Isle of Lewis the clan lands of the Morrison family, and was granted by the Kennel Club in October 1979, a year after I started showing. I was first introduced to Cavaliers by a family friend Mr David Barker of the
Oakmills affix. My first a B/T dog Oakmills Mr Clancey, duly arrived into my home. Our first show together was Richmond Championship Show when at just 6 months Clancey won 3 rd
prize in Minor Puppy dog under Judge Mrs L Woods, and that was it, I was hooked on showing. Clancey won a number of BOB’s and Championship placings during his show career.
Highstead Solo a Blenheim was next to join the family. My first Best in Show was won at the Southern CKCS Club Members Limited Show in April 1980 under Judge Mr John
Middleton, with this lovely showy Blenheim boy. A day to remember.
September 1979 saw the arrival of Oakmills Royal Command, a most handsome B/T dog who won RBIS, a CH Show winner and a multi BOB winner and became the foundation of the Lewisisle line. From Oakmills Royal Command came the B/T bitch Jeanadas
Black Tansy of Lewisisle and the RCC and JW winner Wolversill Royal Ransome of
Lewisisle, who together produced the first Lewisisle litter in November 1983. The success of this litter resulted in two further repeat matings, producing the forerunners of today’s Lewisisle Cavaliers, which have been recorded in the Cavalier year books ever since.
I have bred 126 puppies from 30 litters , 47 Lewisisle’s have been shown, 26 have been placed in the first 3 at Championship Shows, plus owning 6 others, and have bred 11 stud
Book holders and owned 2 others. Lewisisle Highland Conon won BIS at the Portsmouth
Open show. Lewisisle Highland Lewis won Reserve Best in Show at the Beckenham
Open Show. Lewisisle Highland Moray and Lewisisle Highland Clover were both
Reserve Best Puppy in Show winners. To name just a few of the Lewisisle successes.
In February 1995 I took out to Mrs Holtskog in Norway, Lewisisle Highland Norsman who at 9 months won his first CC and went on to a further CC plus 2 RCC’s. He sired the
B/T Champion Tibma’s Highland Judith for Mrs Holtskog. Two Lewisisle’s did well in
Mini Agility, namely Lewisisle Highland Jay who in 1996 made it to the big ring at
Crufts and Lewisisle Highland Nevis.
My first judging appointment was in July 1983 at the Barnet and Hatfield Open Show.
Since then I have judged all over the UK both in Cavaliers and other Toy breeds. I was very proud that my first Club Show was the Scottish CKCS Open Show in June 2003, and award my first CC’s tickets at Windsor Championship Show 2006 in Cavalier Dogs.
Since then, I have given tickets at the Bournemouth Championship Show 2008 in
Cavalier Bitches and the Midland CKCS Championship Show 2008 in Dogs.
I have also been lucky to have judged overseas a number of various breeds in Latvia
September 2006, November Moscow 2008, March Dresden 2010 and Ukraine in
September 2011. Also I have judged the Cavalier Fanciers of Southern Ontario’s CH
Breed Show in June 2011, and also the Norwegian Cavalier Club Breed CH Show in May
2011.
Apart from showing I served on the Durrington Community Ringcraft Club for 8 years as
Secretary and Treasurer. I joined the Committee of the Southern Cavalier Club in 1989 and became Secretary in 1991, retiring in 1996. In 1994 I became Committee Member for the Worthing and District Canine Society and became Secretary and Show Manager in
1996 and have since then run two large Open Shows yearly at the South of England
Showground, Ardingly.
I have travelled extensively around various parts of the world when time allowed and have also attended various Cavalier Shows when abroad. For the past 35 years I have worked in banking for a major global high street bank.
