School board members, superintendents, selected administrative staff members and guests were in attendance. The presentation of the award was preceded by a video prepared by Utrust to showcase students and staff along with many photographs of appreciation day celebrations in each of the Jackson County schools. Superintendent Joe Barlow made a moving speech about how employees and students have been positively affected as he and his board accepted the award. He expressed appreciation to the board for its involvement and support and especially thanked Freda Hammock for her work as Coordinator of the program for the school system. “Jackson County has done an outstanding job of recognizing and expressing appreciation to its employees,” according to Dr. Dan Tollett, Utrust Administrator. “The school district is not blessed with an abundance of funds but it doesn’t cost much to express heartfelt appreciation to deserving employees. This award was for having the state’s best school appreciation last year but the program is off to an even better start this school year in Jackson County,” Tollett continued. Utrust is a statewide organization that promotes the recognition and appreciation of school employees. Utrust sponsors the Employee Appreciation Program to honor various groups of school employees throughout the year. The program aims to develop student leadership and cultivate an attitude of gratitude in students as they recognize and express appreciation to school employees.
