INSTRUCTIONS: The MiBLSi team should complete the checklists quarterly to monitor activities for
implementation of Effective Reading Support in the school.

Core Reading Curriculum
1.
Interim and end-of-year reading goals and priorities for each grade are specified
2.
School is using a core curriculum program that is researched based.
3.
The program is being implemented for at least 90 minutes daily.
4.
DIBELS is used for universal screening grades K-6 three times per year.
5.
Adequacy of the core curriculum has been evaluated based on student outcomes
and the Consumer’s Guide to Evaluating a Core Reading Program.
6.
In cases where the core program is found lacking, a supplemental program has been
put in place for all students.
7.
A school wide action plan has been written based on DIBELS data and PET
8.
The 90-minute instructional block has been outlined at each grade level based on the
five critical components, student performance and interim goals.
9.
Grouping within the block is based on need and is flexible as student need changes.

10. Demographic information for each student is entered into the DIBELS database.
11. All students within the school are being assessed with DIBELS (including those
receiving special education services).
12. Fidelity of administration and scoring of each DIBELS assessor has been conducted.
Supplemental Intervention
1.
Grade and class lists have been reviewed and students not at “Benchmark” have
been identified.
2.
Specific skill areas needing intervention have been identified based on student data
and interim goals.
3.
Students have been grouped based on the focus of instruction (no more than 5
students in each group)
4.
A research based supplemental program has been identified with the appropriate
instructional focus.
5.
Professional Development has been arranged in order to implement the program
with fidelity.
6.
The time (minutes per day, per week) place and teacher has been identified.
7.
The progress monitoring schedule (1 x per week is recommended) has been
identified.
8.
The data are plotted against an aim line and results are shared with student at each
assessment.
9.
Data are entered into the DIBELS data base.
10. Monthly meetings have been scheduled to review progress monitoring data at each
grade level.
