NICaN Nursing Network
Comprises four interrelated groups

The format of the NICaN Nursing Group has been changed. Previously there was
one large meeting with membership drawn from across NI and representing
various cancer nursing roles. In response to the changing context and to provide
focus and increase effectiveness the structure has been changed, from one
group to a network comprising four nursing forum.
Present membership of each forum is outlined below but this is kept fluid in order
to be responsive to need. Should others not listed be keen to be involved in a
particular forum, please contact relevant chair.
Lead Cancer Nurse Forum
Purpose: To provide leadership in the development of cancer nursing and seeks
to influence the wider health & social care agenda towards person centred
outcomes for people affected by cancer
It has a role in coordinating and linking with the other cancer nursing forum to
ensure strategic alignment
Chemotherapy Nurse

Specialist Forum
Purpose: To provide clinical
expertise and leadership in
the development of
chemotherapy nursing
practice and to influence
the development of
chemotherapy services in
order to ensure patients
have equitable access to
safe, high quality,
standardized chemotherapy
service across Northern
Ireland
Purpose: to develop, deliver
and coordinate a CNS work
programme which is in line
with regional policy and
strategic priorities. The
ultimate aim is to ensure
that patients have equitable
access to high quality
nursing assessment,
coordinated treatment and
person centred care across
the cancer network, which
results in the best possible
experience and outcome
