Matthew 18.20
COLLECT: God of grace and goodness, you know that by reason of our frailty
we cannot but fail; keeps us always under your protection and lead us to all
things profitable to our salvation; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and
reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever. AMEN.
Welcome to St Alban’s!

PSALM 119:33-40
33. Teach me Lord the way of your statutes:
and in keeping them I shall have my reward.
34. Give me understanding, and I shall keep your law:
I shall keep it with all my heart.
35. Make me walk in the path of your commandments:
for that is my desire.
36. Incline my heart to your instruction:
and away from covetous desires.
37. Turn away my eyes from what is empty and false:
and give me life in your way.
38. Fulfil your promise to your servant:
your promise to those who fear you.
39. Turn away from me the scorn that I dread:
for your judgments are very good.
40. How I long for your precepts:
in your righteousness give me life.

PRAYERS




For those we will invite to join us at church on Back to Church Sunday;
For the people of Christchurch on the anniversary of last September’s earthquake;
For the clean-up following the devastation wrought by Hurricane Irene in USA;
In the Anglican Communion, for all the Anglican Church of Korea.
Back to Church Sunday, the single largest local-church initiative in the world, is based
on the simplest and shortest step in evangelism – that we should invite someone we
already know to something we love, invite a friend to church.
Who will you invite to church next Sunday 11 September, 8.00am and 9.30am?
NOTICES
All saleable goods are welcome on the Missions Table. Please bring and buy!
The Parish Catch-Up follows the 9.30am service this morning. Join us as we discuss
our life together as a community of faith. On today’s agenda is an update on the Youth
Worker Trust and information about a strategic planning session in early November.
A Retreat in Daily Life starts next Sunday at St Alban’s and runs through until the
following Friday. Commitment: a half hour of daily personal prayer at home and a half
hour session Monday to Friday with a Personal Prayer Guide at a time as convenient
as possible for you. For more information, contact damon.plimmer@xtra.co.nz.
Conservation Week begins 11 September - Love New Zealand Arohaina i a Aotearoa.
A service of prayer, vigil and candle lighting will be held
in the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul on Sunday 11
September at 12noon. The service is likely to last about
30 minutes and it will be an opportunity to reflect on the
shock of the events of 9/11 in 2001, and the subsequent
loss of life, and disruption of life.
View an authentic 1611 King James (Authorised) Bible –
on loan from Dunedin Public Library together with a
number of other Bibles, including a range of
contemporary language translations. These Bibles will be
on display at the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul from
10.00am to 4.00pm daily until Sunday 11 September.
The Anglican Communion Covenant will be debated at Synod in midSeptember. Understood “as a description of life in the Anglican family,” it has
received a mixed response. Over the next few weeks, some of the key
elements of the Covenant will be printed here.
Part two includes the Five Marks of Mission.
To proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom
To teach, baptise and nurture new believers
To respond to human need by loving service
To seek to transform unjust structures of society
To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain & renew the life of the earth
