OBJECTIVE
My objective is to work with children and their families in order to improve their understanding of disease
processes, surgical interventions, medications, and treatments; and to assist them in attaining the optimal
level of independence in meeting their health care goals. I strive to use my experience as a registered nurse
and a nurse practitioner to make even overwhelming tasks seem possible through child/family directed
teaching that is structured, straightforward, and supportive. I enjoy working as part of a team along with
physicians, surgeons, nurses, and other nurse practitioners to provide the best care for children and families.
EXPERIENCE
Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Oncology, The Children’s Hospital, Aurora, CO
2007-Current
• Full time position covering two days per week in the outpatient oncology clinic at The Children’s Hospital main campus and one day a week in the Littleton CCBD clinic. I cover both outpatient and inpatient
as needed when other nurse practitioners require coverage. I take call for the Littleton CCBD office one
weekend each month. The remainder of my time is spent working as part of the leukemia team managing
patient needs, consenting patients for study, assisting in diagnostic talks and being available as needs
arise.
• Outpatient oncology clinic responsibilities include: full schedule of patients for exams, labs, chemotherapy, transfusions, procedures, and sick visits
• Lumbar punctures with and without intrathecal chemotherapy, bone marrow aspirations, and bone marrow biopsies. All procedures are done using Propofol anesthesia or moderate sedation.
• Admission of patients for scheduled chemotherapy including history and physical
• Writing of chemotherapy orders following COG protocols for both clinic visits and inpatient chemotherapy
• Inpatient responsibilities include: a full load of patients to examine and present in rounds, following of
daily labs, vitals, fluid balance, nutrition, imaging studies, chemotherapy, transfusions, writing new orders, chemotherapy orders, and assisting residents and staff as needed
• Collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, case managers, pharmacists, therapists, and anyone
else involved in a patient’s care
• Attendance at professor’s rounds, tumor boards, leukemia conferences, and other educational forums

• Pre-op and post-op teaching including discussion of surgical procedures, post-op care, follow up, gastrostomy care, ostomy care, CVC care
