£ 22,500 – 23,000 per annum, depending on skills and
experience, pro rata if based on a job share
Topical application of autologous skin cells to improve wound healing in severe
burn and scald wounds

Applications are invited for an experienced research assistant to join the Blond McIndoe
Research Foundation laboratories. This project is part of a long-term research
programme to improve how cell therapies are produced and delivered to patients with
severe skin injuries.
You will hold at least a BSc or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject and have
previous work experience in a research laboratory. Experience in primary cell culture as
well as in a range of techniques, such as histology, qRT-PCR, flow cytometry and
Western blotting are essential for this role. In addition, from time to time you will be
required to collect samples from collaborating sites. A full, clean driving license and car
are essential.
At the Blond McIndoe Research Foundation we have a long history of investigating
wound healing in relation to burns and scald injuries. Our programme of research is
aimed at reducing scarring and the time taken to heal in burn injuries through the
development of novel therapeutic and diagnostic measures. This post offers an excellent
opportunity to work in an exciting and multi-disciplinary translational research unit with
close ties to the clinical units at the adjacent Queen Victoria Hospital as well as industrial
partners.
