PRESS RELEASE Treasure Chest holds a riddle or two for treasure seekers Bishop Bill will unlock the key to a treasure seeking game on Wednesday 1st March at 11.30am on High Cross (inside cathedral if wet). He will unlock a treasure chest and read out a riddle that marks the start of a Cornish treasure hunt that will take treasure seekers to many of the beautiful churches around the county in search of clues to solve the mystery. Canon Pat Robson has put together a cluebook of riddles and rhymes called ‘The Quest – A Celtic Mystery’. She has high hopes that it will capture people’s imaginations, “The Celts were great riddle solvers and loved rhymes; I suppose they were the forerunners of Crosswords and the logic puzzles like Sidoku that are so popular nowadays. Well this is the Cornish version; the book contains clues in the form of rhymes which will lead treasure seekers in the footsteps of the Cornish Saints around some of our most fascinating churches. If you enjoy a mystery and love our beautiful county, then this challenge is designed for you. It may only take you a few hours to solve or it could become a life time’s quest! Will you accept the Challenge?” Bishop Bill will read this riddle to commence the treasure hunt: The riddle to be solved is ‘Born in stone and cast away I wait to live another day Forget me not, for with my might All demons will be put to flight I do not sleep But lie beneath the wheels of death Find me! Colin Reid, Cathedral Communications Officer, is very excited by this new book, “This is a collaboration between the Cathedral and the Diocese. We hope that both locals and visitors will be intrigued and follow the clues around the county visiting some of our most wonderful churches in the process. The book is available from the Cathedral Shop and other Cornish Heritage shops priced £2.50. We hope that it will give food for thought as well as hours of pleasure as people seek the mystery treasure!” Colin Reid Cathedral Communications Officer 01872 245007 (wk) 01736 351443 (home) Photo opportunity includes Bishop Bill, Dean of Truro Chris Hardwick, Grant Lyon Grand Bard For more information contact Canon Pat Robson tel 01726 882979, mob 0789 7577416, email: Intercelt@aol.com
