Elastec/American Marine Sets New GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® Title
Carmi, IL USA – The performance of Elastec/American Marine’s Hydro-Fire® Boom is “Officially
Amazing”. The Carmi, IL based manufacturer of pollution control equipment has set the new GUINNESS
WORLD RECORDS® title for the “Longest Continuous Burn of Oil Spill at Sea”.
The record-setting event took place during the Gulf of Mexico oil spill in the summer of 2010 when
E/AM CEO Donnie Wilson and his team managed the in-situ controlled burn operation for BP America.
Elastec/American Marine’s water-cooled Hydro-Fire® Boom, manufactured in the company’s Fairfield, IL
facility, had the longest, continuous oil burn of 11 hours and 48 minutes. The second longest burn of 11
hours and 21 minutes was performed by Elastec/American Marines’ American Fireboom.
By the time the Deepwater Horizon well was capped, 411 controlled burns were conducted with the
majority employing Elastec/American Marine’s fire booms.
