Using Data to Create Responsive Systems
Half or full day workshop, Presented by Nathan Ngieng
Workshop description
When? Where? Who? What? How often? With whom?...
These are often questions that we ask when trying to deal with problem behaviour in a proactive
manner. How can we effectively manage and use data to help drive the decisions we make about
student behaviour? How can we create an environment of success for our students and build
positive relationships using the data? How can we make our classroom or whole school systems
more effective and our strategies more proactive and timely with reliable and accurate data?
This session will focus on these questions through addressing the need for consistent collection
of office referral data and, more importantly, how this data can be used to improve the success of
student and school-wide plans so that higher levels of academic and social success can be
achieved.

I’ve Taught Social Skills….But These Kids Don’t Get It!
Half or full day workshop. Presented by Cheryl Hofweber
Workshop description:
Social and emotional skills are critical for all children in their development as good students,
citizens and workers, becoming fully engaged members of society. Some students continue to
demonstrate acting out or withdrawn behaviours in spite of good social skill instruction at the
classroom level. To support these students’ learning, it is necessary to explore social emotional
learning a little deeper, in order to understand and address their underlying needs. This session
will focus on strategies that will help targeted students develop increased resilience by
integrating core social emotional competencies into classroom and small group instruction.
