Cath's work was exhibited at the Pastel Society's
annual exhibition March ‘08 at the Mall Gallery London, where it
gained the Frank Herring Award.

PAYMENT - We request a deposit of £50 per person on booking with the full balance 14
days prior to the course commencing.

CANCELLATION - If for any reason the holiday should be cancelled there will be a full
refund. If a participant cancels 30days prior to the course, they will forfeit their deposit. If
they cancel 7 days before the course begins they will forfeit their full fee, unless a
replacement can be found.
THE COURSE - On booking we will contact you with a questionnaire to be able to target
the level and content of the instruction to your needs. Please see materials list below.

Worton Old Mill Pastel and Mixed Medium Painting

Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th November 2008
Pastel and Mixed Medium
This is the third weekend course that Cath has run at Worton Old Mill.
Cath will again start from the techniques of drawing and sketching
towards collecting images and proceed to working with the
participants to finished paintings. This time she aims to introduce a
method of extending pastels into a mixed medium technique.
She will be asking those attending to collect textured papers and flat
interesting surfaces, such as leaves and feathers, in advance to use in
their work.
Materials list for Mixed Media Pastel Weekend at Worton Arts Mill
PROVIDED
Cath will be bringing a selection of paper which will be available to
you for cost price. The paper available will include Mi-Tients Canson,
coloured paper and white drawing paper. Do bring any favourite
papers to use as well. Easels and drawing boards will be supplied.
The following list is desirable (except where starred* ). Cath will bring
a range of backup materials.
PLEASE BRING

Sketch book, preferably at least A4 with a hard back.*

A couple of drawing pencils preferably between 2B - 4B *

Basic soft pastel set (not oil pastels) or a range of your own pastels.
Important to have at least 30 colours minimum to get range of
colours, costing about £20/£30.

sometimes about £10
Sennelier half stick set either 40 or 80 colours
Schmincke half size set of 60 or Rembrandt half stick set 30/60

Plastic or card container preferably with lid for using as a pastels
palette, for example a lunchbox with a base of approx. 6” x 8” or
your own solution

Something to protect and take artwork home.
For mixed media

Any interesting textured papers / fabrics / feathers etc

If you have acrylic paints and brushes do bring but I will have
some too.

Your Level
In order for Cath to plan the weekend’s work it would help if you
could feedback to Yvonne at the Mill your level of own expertise, for
instance in observational drawing or in painting. All comers are
welcome.
