Speakers:

Mrs Priscilla Smith – Reddins Irish Setters, established since 1972 and produced numerous Show Champions,

Championship Show Group and BIS winners including the Gundog Group at Crufts 1989 being Top Breeders in

Irish Setters over several years. Priscilla was also instrumental in assisting the Animal Health Trust attain DNA status for CLAD through her vast knowledge of pedigrees in Irish Setters.

Dr Ron James BVetMed PhD FRCPath MRCVS – Jasmore; Bullmastiff’s, Basenji’s and Pointers, Ron has over forty years with pedigree dogs breeding and judging all over the world having made up champions in all of his three chosen breeds. He is also on the General Committee for the Kennel Club as well as being on several Sub

Committees including the Genetics and Health Screening Sub Committee.

Mr Ken Sinclair , Araki Tibetan Terriers, after a successful show career with 6 champion Afghan Hounds owned

& bred and breeding numerous over-sea champions; Ken has bred or owned U.K. champions with over 150 champion title holders from this kennel worldwide. Breeder of both the bitch CC record holder with 33 CC’s and the dog with 45 CC’s, numerous group and BIS winners including Crufts 2007. Additionally, Ken also judges all over the world, he also breeds, shows and judges Cob horses and is an Assured Breeder with the Kennel Club.

Mr Peter Rolph , Commercial Litigation Partner, is generally recognised as the leading solicitor in the country regarding the Civil Law relating to dogs and has extensive experience of prosecutions under the Dangerous Dogs

Act 1991. Peter has been active in the world of dogs, both breeding and showing dogs, for over 30 years. A Vice

President of the Bournemouth Canine Association and former Chairman of the Bull Terrier Club, Peter has provided extensive legal advice on a full range of issues relating to dogs, including veterinary negligence and

Kennel Club disciplinary hearings. Receiving regular referrals from the Kennel Club and Law Society, Peter has experience of RSPCA prosecutions and other general animal law. A contributor to “Dog World”

Dr. Cathryn Mellersh , Principal Investigator and leads the Canine Genetics team and co-manages The Kennel

Club Genetics Centre at the Animal Health Trust. Cathryn is also on the Genetics and Health Screening Sub

Committee with the Kennel Club and is making great strides to finding an indicator for Bloat within our breed given the resources.

This Seminar is open to all, especially those up and coming people within our breed looking for support and guidance with a potential or forthcoming litter or just some advice and or direction with terms etc. with regard to the use of a stud dog.
