People credited with this unit standard are able to: use safe working practices; receive materials for food or related products production; store materials for food or related products production; and issue materials for food or related products production. New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 7722 version 4 Page 2 of 4 2 Definitions Materials refer to any of dry, wet, dangerous, volatile; bulk, by unit lot, frozen, temperature controlled, cleaning, packaging, raw materials, or ingredients. Organisational procedures refer to documents that include worksite rules, codes, and practices; equipment operating instructions; production specifications; documented quality management systems; and health and safety requirements. PPE refers to personal protective equipment such as protective clothing, gloves, safety glasses/headwear/footwear, hearing protection, and safety devices. Related products refers to beverages, household products, or personal care products. 3 Range Competence is to be demonstrated on three occasions of receiving, three of storing, and three of issuing materials for food or related product production. Elements and performance criteria Element 1 Use safe working practices. Performance criteria 1.1 PPE is used in accordance with organisational procedures. 1.2 Work environment is clean and free from hazards in accordance with organisational procedures. Range hazards to – personnel, product, plant. 1.3 Correct lifting and handling techniques are used in accordance with organisational procedures. 1.4 Materials handling equipment is used in accordance with organisational procedures. 1.5 Documentation is referred to and/or completed in accordance with organisational procedures. Element 2 Receive materials for food or related products production. Performance criteria 2.1 Materials are received in accordance with organisational procedures. 2.2 Materials received are checked in accordance with organisational procedures. Range may include but is not limited to – correct product, allergenic, quantity, condition, material integrity. New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 7722 version 4 Page 3 of 4 2.3 Non-conforming material is identified and isolated, and corrective action to minimise production impact is taken in accordance with organisational procedures. 2.4 Interested parties are informed of received materials in accordance with organisational procedures. Range interested parties may include but are not limited to – supervisor, production, purchasing, stores. Element 3 Store materials for food or related products production. Performance criteria 3.1 Materials are stored in accordance with organisational procedures. 3.2 The stored materials are checked in accordance with organisational procedures to ensure they are secure, in a stable position, and at a temperature that optimises product life. 3.3 Volatile and hazardous materials are kept separate from materials in accordance with organisational procedures. 3.4 Stored materials have accurate, clear, and legible identification in accordance with organisational procedures. 3.5 Stored materials are accessible with time sensitive stock available for use first in accordance with organisational procedures. 3.6 Non-conforming materials are quarantined, and corrective action is taken to minimise detrimental impact to production and/or surrounding product in accordance with organisational procedures. 3.7 Materials storage capacity is maximised in accordance with organisational procedures. Element 4 Issue materials for food or related products production. Performance criteria 4.1 Materials for food or related products production are issued in accordance with organisational procedures. 4.2 Requisitioned product is issued in accordance with organisational procedures. 4.3 Issued materials are free from contamination, fit for purpose, and meet product specifications. New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2016 7722 version 4 Page 4 of 4 Please note Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment. Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards. Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
