High Security Seals (HSS) requirements on shipments to Taiwan.
Taiwan government is enforcing the requirement to
have line high security seals on every container. It is
also required that the full container seal number is
included in the manifest when submitting. If the line
HSS seal is not attached then it needs to be done in
Taiwan; at additional time and expense. Cargo may
also be delayed. Currently OOCL is not charging for
attaching seals at destination, but it may be reviewed
at a later date.
Sample of OOCL High
Security Seal. All alpha
digits including the OOL,
need to be included to
comply
with
Taiwan
Seals are provided by the empty container depot at Customs regulations. In
time of container release. They may also be obtained this sample OOLABN3100
from any OOCL office. Please record the full number
of the seals, including all alpha digits on the shipping
instruction.
Overweight Containers
Recently publicity of maritime disasters has highlighted the issue of overloaded
container and wrongly-declared container weights. Overloaded and wrongly declared
container weights pose severe safety and OH&S issues when the numbers are
aggregated. It also has implications for the Chain of Responsibility laws in Australia.
Incorrect weights can impact vessel stability and stack weight limitations. It can lead
to accidents causing death and injury.
All customers are strongly encouraged to declare the correct weight at time of
booking and amended if needed after packing and upon entering the transport
system.
