This data set is an archive of model simulations produced by Drs. HeeSook Kang and
Chris Mooers, RSMAS, University of Miami, using Princeton Ocean Model (POM).
It was one of three cases used in Kang and Mooers (2005). This dataset was produced by
the 5-year simulations from 1993 to 1997 with ECMWF 6-hourly fluxes, which were recalculated with MCSST. Details of forcing and model configuration can be found in the
above paper. If a reader wants to know more about model setting and preparation of
forcing, please refer to Kang (2001). Model parameters and configuration were chosen
based on a series of sensitive studies (Kang, 1997).

Archive was done twice a day (00 and 12).
Simulation dates are recognized in filenames with seven digits;
year(1),month(2),day(2),time(2), for example, ec_3012012_1 means data archive on
noon, January 20, 1993.
There are six directories, which were combined into six “tar” files.
(1) JES_POM_tar
Includes a sample code for reading data and supporting files for model
information.
(2) data1_tar
Includes a series of datasets of 2-D variables like elevation (elb).
(3) data2_tar
Includes a series of datasets of 3-D U-component velocity (ub)
(4) data3_tar
Includes a series of datasets of 3-D W and V-component velocity (w & vb)
(5) data4_tar
Includes a series of datasets of 3-D temperature (tb)
(6) data5_tar
Includes a series of datasets of 3-D salinity (sb)
