Hellboy Walkthrough
Episode 1:
1. EntracewayThe player takes control of Hellboy once Hellboy picks up Peter’s lighter. Hellboy must enter
each of two small tombs in this area and push the large stone button at the end of the casket.
Tomb A opens the door to Tomb B. Tomb B opens the gate. Hellboy follows Sara through the
gate and encounters 3 zombies. He defeats the zombies and proceeds to the large church at the
center of the cemetery.
2. The Old ChurchHellboy finds Sara by Peter’s body. His body seems to have been dragged from the nearby
tomb, but the door is locked. Hellboy enters the nearby church and defeats the giant harpy there
to get the key. Then Hellboy enters the tomb. Once inside, the door locks behind him and Sara
is abducted.
3. Inside the TombHellboy must use Peter’s lighter to light one of the torches before he can proceed into the
darkness of the tomb. After dispatching the zombies, Hellboy must push the casket on the left
of the tomb to open the door in the rear. Hellboy must run to enter before the door closes
behind him.
In the next room, Hellboy finds a large gap with a partial bridge. Hellboy must find the
stones scattered about the room to weight the pillars. Once all the pillars are the same height,
the bridge is extended. The tetrahedral rock (far corner) is placed in the center. The cube and
the semi-sphere are to the right and left respectively. There is an extra rock in the room which
is unnecessary. Once across the bridge, Hellboy enters a room with a giant pentacle. The door
at the far end needs a torch on either side before it will open.
In the final room, Hellboy needs to spin the cross on the wall to open the door to an elevator
which will take him into Episode 2.
Episode 2:
4. The Garden-
Hellboy can play the organ in the old church to reveal a box of ammo for his gun. Once outside
the church, Hellboy is attacked by a Nohox Kanis. Hellboy cannot fight this creature, so he
must run! Once Hellboy makes it to the large central area, he encounters the giant Kanis, which
leaves quickly. Hellboy continues through the hedge to the old asylum and enters the front
door.
5. The Asylum EntranceHellboy goes left from the entry hall and enters Emma’s office. Emma is a crazed nurse who
demands that Hellboy remove his gun, and then knocks it from his hand. Hellboy must defeat
Emma and retrieve his gun. He also need the key from the desk drawer in Emma’s desk.
Hellboy uses the key to open the large double doors in the main hall. Once inside, he needs to
defeat the Nurses inside. For a map of the asylum, check the Library.
6. The AsylumHellboy enters the game room, which is populated by madmen. Hellboy breaks the glass in the
game room and climbs through the window into a storage room. Inside there are 5 bottles of
pills and 4 charts which describe the symptoms each pill alleviates. The Red, Blue, and Yellow
pills cure the madmen in the game room. The green pills are for Herman, in the cell near the
giant frog (we’ll go there later). The white pills are for the Madman who is hidden behind the
bookcase in the library. Pull the green book to find him, and give him the white pills for a key.
Off the game room are 3 doors. The first door (counting clockwise from the entrance) leads
to a security room with another nurse. Defeat the nurse and throw the switch. This opens the
second door, which leads to the cell hallway. The third door leads to the garden. In the garden,
turn on the water behind the bunker to activate the fountain. The fountain spits out a note,
which Hellboy should retrieve. Then return to the entry of the Asylum, and hold the note up
before the fire. The lemon juice on the note will turn brown, revealing four symbols. Hellboy
should then go to the cell hallway past the game room.
7. The CellsEntering the cell hallway, there are three doors to the left and three to the right. The last
door on the left holds Herman, who will give clues in return for green pills. The last door on the
right is home to a frog monster who Hellboy must defeat. To defeat the frog, get the pipe from
the end of the room. Then get underneath the frog monster and jab upwards. Each time, the
frog guy will spray acid on Hellboy so that Hellboy must pick up the pipe again.
When the frog is dead, the pipe will be only a fraction of its original size. Hellboy will keep
the pipe for later. The cell next to Herman’s (second on the left) has its grate removed. Hellboy
needs to break the fan in that room by using the pipe. Once through, Hellboy will find a room
with four statues. He should align the statues so that they face in the direction indicated by the
note Hellboy pulled from the fountain. When done correctly, the door will open. Hellboy then
runs through an old tunnel to Mitri’s cell, and finishes the Episode.
Episode 3:
8. Enter the MonasteryHellboy drops into the past in the same room from which he left. The tunnels off Mitri’s
cell are now inhabited by withered prisoners, and very little light. Hellboy needs to advance
while the room is lit. Once through, Hellboy enters a torture room. The door is locked, and the
key is plainly visible on a chain. Hellboy pulls the chain near the floor, and the key flies up into
the ceiling. Hellboy must then punch each of two weak pillars near the door to make the ceiling
collapse. Hellboy must act quickly and punch the second pillar while the room is still shaking.
9. Get the headHellboy is now in the quadrangle. This is a large square courtyard with 5 doors. The doors
(counting clockwise) lead to the courtyard, the library, the tower, the kitchen and the torture
room. The kitchen and torture room are on the same wall, and offer a good way to orient
yourself.
Hellboy needs to first go to the courtyard, and grab the chicken and the bag of pig food
from inside the corral. Then he needs to stand near the fountain and throw the pig food in. This
will raise the level of the water enough to fill the small pool. Hellboy grabs the box from the
pool and proceeds to the tower.
Outside of the tower, there is a locked door. Unlock it with the key, and go inside. You will
quickly fall through the floor into the boiler room. Inside the boiler room, Hellboy needs to
quickly grab the bucket and fill it with water from the pipe to douse the fire. Once the boiler has
cooled off, he can climb over the pipes and enter a secret tunnel. Inside the tunnel is a dead
monk with a severed head. Hellboy grabs the head and exits the tunnel into the kitchen.
10. Get the SwordInside the kitchen, Hellboy cooks the chicken. Circle the quadrangle to the library, and
push the long bookcase so that it forms an ”X” rather than a ”T”. Then Hellboy returns to the
quadrangle and takes the small stairs into the center of the quadrangle. Hellboy now needs to
arrange the pillars into a giant stairwell leading to the roof. When complete, Hellboy climbs the
stairs and jumps through the skylight into the library.
If the bookcase was moved, Hellboy lands on the bookcase. He can now get the key and
unlock the door in the rear of the library. At the end of the library tunnel is a door with a slot. If
Hellboy has the head he will use it to fool the librarian and gain entrance to the forbidden
library.
Inside the forbidden library, Hellboy needs to defeat the giant monkey and grab the
stonecross. Now return to the courtyard, and give the cooked chicken to the farmboy. The
farmboy will open a trap door which leads to the church. (The church is locked form the
outside.) Inside the church, Hellboy crosses to the far side and enters the sacristy. Inside the
sacristy, Hellboy puts the stonecross into the slot at the end of the casket, which opens a
window and lets in a beam of light. Then Hellboy grabs the shield from the wall and, standing
in the beam of light, uses the shield to reflect the beam. The corpse awakens and gives Hellboy
the sword.
11. Hellboy FightsReturning to the church, Hellboy encounters the Inquisitor, who has been watching Hellboy
all along. The Inquisitor turns into a giant snake, and attacks Hellboy. Hellboy must defeat
him using the sword. When the Inquisitor is dead, Hellboy returns to the tower. Two Kanis
statues come to life, and Hellboy must defeat them with the sword. When they are both dead,
Hellboy can enter the tower.
The base of the tower has a large swinging pendulum. Hellboy dodges the pendulum’s
swing, and pulls the lever on the elevator.
In the middle of the tower, Hellboy faces four large pillars with platforms and stairs.
Hellboy needs to pull both switches on the ground to switch the direction of the stairs. Once
that’s done, the rest of the puzzle is a piece of cake. Simply climb the stairs, pull the lever at the
top, descend the stairs, pull the new lever, and so on. Eventually, you will rotate the one
freestanding platform into position, such that it can be accessed by the adjacent platform.
Hellboy then works his way back to the floor, reverses the stairs to their original position, and
makes his way to the final platform, which takes him to the top of the tower.
At the tower top, Hellboy faces the giant Kanis once again. He must use the sword to strike
the Kanis in the head. Then while the Kanis is stunned, Hellboy should run behind him and
strike the weak spot on his back. While not strictly necessary, it does make things much easier.
When the Kanis is dead, Hellboy takes the amulet, and returns to the present.
Episode 4:
12. Enter the AsylumHellboy is once again in Mitri’s cell. He returns to the room with the cherub statues. The
statues now hold weapons which will kill Hellboy if he walks within their sight. Hellboy must
weave around the statues to the door. Hellboy then returns to the game room from episode 2.
Herman is out of his cell, and has swallowed the key to Kalin’s office. Hellboy needs to get the
pills from the storage room and give them to Herman. Herman pukes up the key. Hellboy
grabs it and goes to the bunker garden. The grate to the left is now unlocked, and leads to
Kalin’s office. Hellboy unlocks the office with the key, and goes inside. (There will be a
switch inside the office. It is not yet implemented. Hellboy should return to the bunker and
enter it.)
13. Into the tunnelsHellboy is in a lab. On either side of the operating table is a switch. Hellboy should throw
both switches. Then he uses the middle console of the three in the corner of the room. This
summons Igor, who takes Hellboy hostage. Hellboy awakes and knocks out Igor. Hellboy now
needs to use the two outer consoles to open the elevator, and descend into the tunnels. At the
bottom of the elevator, Hellboy needs to find a large valve, like the ones used to activate the
fountains in Episode 2. He turns the valve, which turns on the main water supply. Hellboy
should then return to the bunker garden, and activate the fountain and sprinklers. Then return
to the valve room and open all of the water vents. When all of the water is on, the pressure
decreases in the next room enough to allow it to open.
14. Into the tunnelsHellboy walks through several rooms into a maze of tunnels. Stay to the left for the first
two areas. In the third area, ignore the turn to the left, and continue through a long corridor.
That takes you to the fourth area. Simply go straight, and you should come into a large
drainage room with four exits. You want to take the exit directly opposite from your entry
position. This takes you into a small tunnel with two maggots in it. At the other end of the
tunnel are some stairs which lead to the maggot queen. We need to kill her to get rid of the
maggots in the maze.
To kill the queen, you need to get past her head. Her head lifts for a few seconds when you
kill one of her maggot children. Get near her head and kill a maggot, then quickly run under her
head and use the console. This starts a countdown, and gives you 15 seconds to exit the room.
Run! If you make it out, return to the drainage room and take the exit to your left. This leads to
another short tunnel which ends in a doorway. This door takes you to another lab.
15. Finding the pipeHellboy needs to free the little guy. There are 3 consoles, numbered 1,2,3 starting at the
left. The pattern is 1, 2, 2, 2, 1, 3, 3, 3, 1, 1, 1, which should bring the rings above the cage into
alignment. Once the guy is free, Hellboy needs to return to the drainage room, take the left exit
(which was his original entrance), to return to the maze, and retrace his steps. This time,
however, he should take the fork he ignored in the third section of maze, and then hug the left
wall. This will take him to another set of steps out of the maze. He should enter the room and
flip the switch- raising the elevator, and then return to the entrance of the maze.
From this small room, retrace your steps to the room with the bridge. The little guy appears
and lower the bridge for you. Cross the bridge and enter the conveyor rooms. Run through the
rooms and you will re-enter the elevator room, which should have the elevator raised. Walk
across the raised platform and get the monkey wrench. Then return to the bridge room, walk to
the small hub before the maze, and throw the monkey wrench down the large pipe. This breaks
the machinery below, and makes it safe for Hellboy to jump through. Hellboy jumps down and
enters Kalin’s lab, where he fights Kalin, and then escapes.
Episode 5:
16. Find Hell-
Hellboy must run through a series of tunnels to get to the surface. He emerges near the
asylum entrance. Hellboy goes through the gate which is now open, and walks through a small
town, defeating enemies along the way. Eventually, he descends into a familiar tunnel. Ignore
the cross this time, and return to the pentacle room from Episode 1. Hellboy will be sucked into
hell…
Episode 6:
17. Defeat the monster/save SaraHellboy must use the staff to remove the tentacles from the creature, and make his way to
Sara.
