THE EAST AND SOUTHERN AFRICAN ASSOCIATION OF ACCOUNTANTS GENERAL (ESAAG) ADVERTISEMENT FOR THE POST OF CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (CEO) The Eastern and Southern African Association of Accountants General (ESAAG) is a co-operation between Accountants General in the region comprising 14 member countries namely, Botswana, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The organization carries out a programme of regional co-operation activities designed to promote best practice in Public Financial Management. REQUIREMENTS A university degree in Accounting or Business or Financial Management. Extensive working experience in financial management and development work within the field Management skills Good interpersonal skills An advantage is to be familiar with the governmental system preferable within the area and the region. The incumbent should be capable of working in an independent environment. The candidate must be a citizen of a member country of ESAAG. DUTIES Conceptual development of the ESAAG co-operation Development of long term strategic plans Establishing and developing co-operation with regional and international organizations within the field such as the World Bank, IFAC, IPFA, AFD, SADC, NEPAD, ECSAFA, SADCPSAO, Regional Training Institutes, SIDA, DFID etc Daily supervision of the Secretariat Production of financial statements for the Annual General Meeting Management of training and capacity building programs Coordination of responses and comments on Exposure drafts and adoption of International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSASs) by member countries. Conversant with donor procedures and extensive experience in negotiations with the donor community. SALARY R555,000 per annum with performance based gratuity of 25%.
