Keep the noise to a conversation level while in the van/bus. 2. Be courteous and considerate to one another, the Parkway staff and any other adult you come into contact with while at the conference. Any adult from Parkway is your acting sponsor while I am not with you. You answer to him/her OR any of the other sponsors, without question. If your badge is pulled for any infraction, you will be sent home - at your expense. 3. MEET ALL TIME SCHEDULES!!!! If a designated time and/or place has been set by the sponsor(s)/chaperone(s) you are expected to be there ON TIME. No one wants to wait on you, nor do you want to wait on others. You will be left behind if you do meet at the designated time. (it has happened more than once) BE CONSIDERATE. BE ON TIME!!! Remember...“THE WELFARE OF THE GROUP OVERRIDES THE CONVENIENCE OF THE INDIVIDUAL” 4. Check in with the sponsor before entering the van/car, so you are accounted for. 5. You are at all times to be on your BEST behavior. You represent the district, our school and our department. DON’T EMBARRASS ME.... you will regret it. 6. This is a school-sponsored trip and therefore you are to follow the rules set forth by Parkway School District. No smoking, no drugs/alcohol, Any violation of will result in you being sent home immediately - at your expense 7. THEATER ETIQUETTE Appropriate theater etiquette is expected of all participants. It is your job to be a good audience member. Remember: there is no food or drink in the theater, no feet on the seats, no hats, no improper language, no distractions from the performers or speakers, no use of your cell for FOR ANY REASON during a performance, and most importantly, NO exits from or entrances into the house during any performance. And of course, no flash photography or recording devices are allowed during performances. 8. You are to wear your name badge at all times while at the conference. You will not be allowed to participate in workshops with it, nor enter the main stage productions. Lost badges will cost you $5.00. 9. At any time another sponsor may question your actions and may pull your badge. If your badge is pulled, you will be suspended from activities and sent home. 10. Make sure you READ the Missouri Thespian Consent Form BEFORE you read it. You will be expected to follow all the rules outlined there, as well as those above (note: many overlap) 11. HOTEL Make an inspection of your room upon arrival. Should anything be broken or damaged, notify a staff member immediately. Anything broken while staying in the rooms is your responsibility to replace or pay for. The sponsor and/or chaperones will not be responsible for any property damage. Furthermore, do not take anything from the rooms such as towels. Do not make any long distance phone calls from your room. Use your cell phone to make calls (we are charged for local calls). Remind your parents not to call after room checks. If phone calls between rooms become a problem, the phones will be shut off. Students should keep their rooms locked at all times, especially at night. Curfew will be announced daily. Please get all sodas and last minute items/bathroom stops before room checks. Do not order any food after curfew. Students are not allowed out of the rooms after curfew. Any individuals found in ANY OTHER rooms (same sex or not), will result in immediate discipline. CURFEW IS SET FOR YOUR SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS. Remember, you are guests in the hotel. Keep all noise to a minimum. No congregating in the halls and/or balconies. Always demonstrate mature behavior. Mixed groups of males/females will NOT occur under any circumstance, behind closed doors. You are responsible for your own luggage....no one else. Be sure to dress casual but nice. Remember, you are representing the Parkway South Theatre Department and most importantly yourself. No sloppy or distasteful appearance is acceptable. (This means no jeans at the evening performances) Don’t forget to bring... toiletries makeup/gloves/hat/scarf trip itinerary pain relief pajamas medicine winter jacket/hoodie homework for downtime quiet “downtime” stuff to do Paper/Pens for workshop notes Nice clothes for Main stages camera* MP3 player* (headphones) Stuff to wear to the Dance dance / workshop apparel Theatre Dept/Show t-shirts money (food, souvenirs, silent auction, t-shirts, snacks, etc.)* * - remember you will be responsible for keeping track of your own stuff. Do not bring anything so expensive you would be hard pressed to replace if you lost it. For $$ figure 4 lunches, 3 breakfasts, and 1 dinner + whatever else you think you’ll buy. ITINERARY January 5, 2011 1. Bring your luggage to the scene shop on WED morning before school starts. No passes will be given. 2. The bus will leave promptly at 3:00. 3. While on the van/bus....always remain seated whenever the vehicle is in motion. ALWAYS use headphones on MP3 player so others will not be bothered. Aisles are to be kept clear at all times. Be patient whenever we reach our destination and wait for instructions. Pass all trash to the bags at the front and back of the van/bus. 4. You will probably be going to the hotel before the actual conference and dropping off luggage , then we will go to the opening show White Christmas at MSU. 5. BRING SOMETHING QUIET TO DO FOR WHEN YOU HAVE DOWN TIME. January 6-8, 2011 1. Each night you will be given the time you need to be on the bus the next morning. Please SLEEP at night so you don’t get sick and can function properly the next day. The curfew given for the conference will be the same one we will follow. You are to be IN YOUR ROOM by curfew and lights out is 30 minutes after curfew. 2. We will be coming back to the hotel to change in between the workshops for the day and the Main stage performance we will see each night. Dress appropriately for each function. 3. GO TO THE WORKSHOPS! You are paying for this trip - don’t waste your time and money by hanging out in the commons. Many of the workshop presenters are the best in their fields and are flown in at great expense. You may never get an opportunity to learn from these people again. 4. We will leave following the last mainstage performance on Sat. around 5pm.
