COFOG Contingency Plan
EMERGENCY EVACUATION / SHELTER-IN-PLACE PLAN
PROCEDURE
1. IF EVACUATING - IMMEDIATELY:
a. Activate DCSAR via DC911 and have their crew leader report to the CP.
b. Request law enforcement and/or ODOT report to the CP to determine
evacuation routes.
c. Contact Red Cross for shelter locations.
2. GATHER INFORMATION
Identify area to be evacuated by using intersecting avenue and street to make
cross hairs at the center of the incident (i.e. NW Dogwood and 4th St.): _______

the city or fire district and give them a short recorded message. All calls will be made in less than
10 minutes.

4. IF SHELTERING IN PLACE:
a. Fax “Shelter in Place - Media Information Sheet” (attached) to all
Central Oregon Radio and TV stations
b. When the area that was sheltering in place becomes habitable use the
EPN, EAS and radio systems to notify those sheltering in place that all
is clear.
c. EPN / EAS Message: The ______________________________ in
your area has been controlled. Sheltering in place is no longer
required. Emergency management officials are directing you to open
your doors and windows to air out your house. Turn on your heating /
cooling system to ventilate the house immediately, and then go
outside. You may return to your house as soon as it is ventilated.

d. Fax a press release announcing all is clear to local radio and television
stations.
